Hey, wow, my new wallpaper!
I was a bit impressed by Mai Hime series, which I've ended watching some days ago.. I did a screen shot from the first episode with a beautiful silhouette of Natsuki Kuga ( here) and I thought about to make a wallpaper.. But after I did a simple outline, I was thinking about another clothes and background and so on.
First problem was her clothes. I did also 20 sketches of dresses, school uniforms etc.. And after almost a week, I finaly chose a simple summer dress which could wave. After finishing the whole figure (coloring, tone, shading etc.) I started to think about the background.. I wanted to make a sea shore or something like this, but it crossed my mind that now is a spring time where cherry blossom are in full bloom. So the idea of the BG was there. Sakuras, grass and a blue sky. I did sakura flower in Illustrator (it was my first work in this incredible editor!), grass was made in PS. Finally some text needed... I'm listening to the Mai Hime soundtrack right now, so I chose a beautiful song singing by Alyssa in the anime. And I added two lines from this song, which I think fit into the mood of the wallpaper..

great job, the image stands out nicely though it still feels a little layered and not merging because of the no outline
