cool effects

You're right, I think... the wind effect is okay, but not great. I love the ghostliness it gives the image but perhaps not having it over the area where their lips meet would have been more tasteful? Still, the whole wall ties together nicely. I like the pixelation -- it works well to cover, as mentioned, what would otherwise be emptiness (though maybe integrating it a bit more into the left side of the pic would've helped? it looks sliced off a bit abruptly). The bar at the bottom works well bringing the colours together.

I think it's beautiful... simple, but very very beautiful. I like the atmosphere of this original pic, and that's great that you didn't use lots of tools.
