...Goodwill towards men.
Happy Holidays (2008) everyone! Instead of a standard snow-laden wallpaper with anime characters in Santa hats, I thought I'd do something a little different - a standard Holiday message of peace and hope for the world. I must admit I have no idea what this series, Terra E, is about, except there seems to be a lot of people fighting over control of Earth, and this character named Soldier Blue is apparently a leader of one of the factions. I started this wallpaper for Moar Plz! (request: Soldier Blue walls), and liked this introspective scan of Soldier Blue. At first I was going to have him looking out of a spaceship with the Earth reflected in the glass, and have him pressing his hands against the glass, but I had trouble getting the hands to come out. Looking for more references, I traced a hand from this other scan, and realized that if you rotated it enough it could be used to hold an object -- like the Earth.
I haven't made a celestial wall in a very long time. It took a while to get the stars to come out the way I wanted. I still think they're too dense, though.
I painted over the trace of Soldier Blue because I painted over the classic Apollo 17 photo of Earth, and I wanted the two pieces to fit together better.

Yay! Thanks for filling my request! (I thought nobody would do it >< )

Awesome painting =D The stars are fine, I don't think they're too dense, maybe just a bit too sharp for the painted foreground. I love the Earth btw, though maybe it should have a glowy ring for the outer atmosphere?

    *new desktop* =D

I'm always happy when I see that a request for Moar PLz! gets filled. Furthermore you managed to make a wallpaper in which he's not reaching out for someone or something. D:
I really like the softer shading on your reworked version of the scan, it just seems calmer and prettier that way.
