Well, there goes the last wallpaper from 2008, since I don't think I'll be able to make another one in so
little time (especially because I'll be going away for a period of time and won't have access to the Internet
or my files). It took a lot of time to make and I'm happy with what I came up :)
I wouldn't like people to say that I ripped the idea from Kelsey's wallpaper, which
accidentally uses the same scan; I got the scan from her and made my own version, based on my own ideas. At first I
wanted to have him "walk" on the clouds and make a glassy surface under his feet (the sky was going to be a
sea and there were going to be some islands there too), but I scratched that and went for the "falling"
effect, which is connected to the title. The title is from Nightwish's song Wish I
Had An Angel, from the first 2 verses:
I wish I had an angel for one moment of love
I wish I had your angel tonight
To cut a long story short, I thought of illustrating the all-too-popular theme "forbidden love", thus making
him "fall from Heaven for a moment of love" (not taking Heaven in the biblical sense, but in the "state
of absolute grace" sense; I don't know if you can see the difference but there is one for me).
After collecting dozens of images of clouds (Kelsey, I really don't remember if I used some from you, if you spot any of your there please let me know ^_^'), I warped, scaled and killed them. Then I painted and moved them around a bit, finally deciding on that bulged effect :) I painted and smudged the wings myself, making them look as if they're disintegrating (hence the blood - that's the red thing on them). I enjoyed doing the puffs on his back, that's one thing I'm good at painting/drawing XD
I really recommend viewing the dual screen version, since that one is the original thing and it looks the best out of all. However, if you want other resolutions, I made some. Just to warn you, they don't look as awesome (how would they, you try squeezing dual screen into 1600 x 1200 and see what happens -_-').

The lighting is awesome, I love all the different colours displayed in the clouds. I really think it's great how you managed to fill the screen so nicely, if I had so much room to fill I'd be at a total loss (sometimes I already get trouble with widescreen).
Anyways great work, it's a fav from me. :D -

I agree with Anja - the lighting is totally awesome. It's a lovely end to the year, I can tell ya that much.
Also, I love the song you chose as inspiration - mainly because it was one of the first Nightwish songs I listened to.
