A Shadow Insect, also called a Twilit Parasite is a sort of insect-like Twilight creature invisible to Humans. Only honed animal senses could see them when in the Twilight Realm. Shadow Insects were electric and sparked purple. Once an Insect was defeated, it would release one of the Tears of Light, which had the power to restore light to the spirits Faron, Eldin and Lanayru after their light had been stolen by shadow beasts. The biggest of all Shadow Insects was called the Twilit Bloat, and appeared at Lake Hylia, guarding Lanayrus last tear.
