I don't know if there's symbology behind them holding camellias though, sorry ^_^'

I think they are holding camellia... from different sources about meanings of flowers camellia symbolize:
- an everlasting union between lovers
- desire, passion, and refinement
- a deep longing in the heart for your beloved
red camellia - You're a flame in my heart.
