This is an entry for dark-wallies Halloween Contest.

Stats:
Time: Off and on for a few months
Layers: 24
Inspiration: "Something Wicked This Way Comes"... I think that it's a song or something. I've heard the phrase in a song before.

I've been working off and on with this piece for a few months now, and I feel that it's finally ready to be submitted for the Dark Wallies contest. As some of you might have noticed this is a Fatal Frame 1 wallpaper, but since there's only a category for the second game there it will stay.

I used a stock photo of a wall for the back ground, candles, and the creepy mask peeking out from the shadows behind Miku. I retouched just about everything with the paint brush, and gave the entire image a faint blur to match the atmosphere generated by the candlelight. I added extra hair to the ghost because her bare shoulder created an awkward grey spot that threw off the focus of the wallpaper. I really wanted to go for creepy without blood in this piece, so I didn't add any to the piece (the blind ghost already had the blood on her eyes in the original scan).

I'm very pleased with how it turned out myself, so I hope others enjoy the spookiness in time for Halloween.

    i think the top of the extraction needs to be blurred a bit more or have a stronger, darker glow to incorporate it better into the background. other than that i love it! its so scary and creepy XD

    I think it's uber rad that you rarely do anything blatently anime related anymore - I like these dark video game themed walls that rely more on photo manipulation than anything else.

    The color totally adds to the feeling of creepiness, and that banshee-like ghost is so awesome. XD

    The scene that you've created puts this scenario into my mind: The girl hears a noes, and turns to investigate it. Oops, shouldn't have done that, because a ghost is getting ready to attack in her time of vulnerability! Poor girl. =(

    lol, I should not be looking at this wall when I`m all alone in my dark room... *runs to turn on lights* Ahh, better, but still, your wall is really creepy!
    I love how your wall is creepy without the need to add extra blood. The extraction, especially on the hair, she be blurred more since it stands out from the way you extracted the rest.
    The ghost... really scares me. lol.
