Foreground is scanned from an Orphen artbook. Background made with Paintshop Pro 4 using various artistic long exposure shots of fireworks and hot air balloon flames.

I like the characters . I am wondering weather this bg suites them. The charcters are seductive and feminine and perhaps your bg is a little too "scratchy". I guess unsympathetic is the word I'm after. Maybe something softer and possibly darker would suite better

Yeah, the original scan's background was dark, soft and seductive (a plush bedroom). To contrast with the original image, I went with a more explosive and powerful effect with fireworks. I attempted to add various things to my background image to introduce more detail, but it always ended up too busy for my tastes. Simple bold strokes and some bright accenting flashes gave the effect I intended.
