It's important that you full view this - to better see the textures I've made.
Now, whatever you may think, I did not choose this image because she is lacking in a lower garment. When I first saw this scan, I thought she had underwear! :o
Honestly I did.
I became entranced with the image. It's so... emotive. What is she thinking? Is she stressed out? that would explain the
cigarette (it's a proven fact that smoking calms nerves). But why is she bottomless? Maybe she just came out of the
shower and didn't feel like getting dressed all the way? Or, perhaps it's super hot outside, and she undressed once she
got inside, collapsing into her lovely orange chair? That would explain why the shirt is so clingy (sweaty skin does
cause clothing to clink...). See, there can be so many interpretations!
The title of the wallpaper comes from the song "The Trick Is To Keep Breathing" by Garbage. But the song didn't influence the wallpaper. I was just listening to that song when I found the scan. The music that really helped bring about this piece, was various songs from the Southern California rock group Queens of the Stone Age, which is one of my favorite bands (and consequently hales from my area of the world). I decided I wanted the wallpaper to be half-techno-grunge, half-natural when it came to the textures and colors. I decided on using Maroon, Green, Orange and Blue, because quite frankly, they look good together in those shades. I wanted the skin to be gray, to give a lifelessness to it, while drawing the eyes to the bounty of life found in the clothing, hair, eye, cigerette, and smoke. The textures used on everything save for the skin and wall were all made by me ('bout time I went back to creating my own textures). The other textures I found through Bashcorpo and Yahoo search engine. I used a paper texture that looked similar to stone on her skin, so that she looked like a statue.... a vibrantly decorated statue.
The smoke was hard for me to create. I kept messing up over and over and over again. So i decided to look at Erdbeermilche's The me sitting here... as a reference. You can probably see a similarity, but I obviously didn't rip anything. I just decided to use her style when it comes to cigerette smoke. XD
So, Minna, do enjoy this wallpaper. I spent a lot of time on it (especially creating those durn textures), so comments are well appreciated. :D

At first glance I thought this was Kawaii-Chicken's, because of the bright colours.
Now I'm really happy that it's yours because I have to say it's one of your best wallies so far.
I really like the scan you picked and it's great how you changed the soft colours to something so vibrant. The vector looks great as do the textures you used.And I feel honored you're using my wallie as a reference. =3

Wow, you modified it a lot. I agree with Erdbeermilch, I thought it was Kawaii-Chicken's too XD Maybe the armchair is a bit too bright, but it works with the other colors. I'm being a little too nit picky.
You used maroon? It looks like scarlet to me ^_^' Guess it's my monitor settings, but it still looks lovely!
Gah, the textures are awesome! <3 You should upload them somewhere for people to use! I'd love to use them, please? *puppy eyes* They are simply awesome.
The vectoring is good too and it all flows together. You know, the first thing that caught my eye was the smoke. Then the eye. Really nice combination, you made her look like she was staring into space, thinking about things.

Another great wallpaper of yours. You did a great job with the colors and the textures, it looks completely different from the original scan. The vector is also very neat.
My favorite part... hum... I guess I have two: her eye and the smoke. You had a hard timing while doing the smoke, but it paid off. It looks awesome. I loved the way you used all 4 colors on it. And her look... her look is very meaningful. It is as if she was in a daze...
