I haven't made a wallpaper in quite some time and recently I felt like walling.

I took this screen shot from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann episode 6 from the image that comes up when it goes to an add break. I've always wanted to wall one of these and I really liked what was going on in this one.

From that I decided to repaint the wallpaper rather than vector it because I felt it would be nice if the image looked more sketchy. In the process of doing the line art I decided to repaint where the logo and highlights would have been as I felt it made the wallpaper look nicer. I'm also not a huge fan of having logo's in wallpapers, so it was another reason for me to remove it.

I also decided to add some textures to the background to liven it up a little more. The ceiling texture was one of my own and used in a couple of other wallpapers of mine and the wall texture came from here:

It feels nice to give the Sisters Kiyoh, Kinon and Kiyal a wallpaper too as there are so many of Yoko and Nia (although this one still has Yoko in)!
I hope you all enjoy this wallpaper ^_^

Done in Photoshop CS3, time taken 1 day roughly.

I'm glad this wallpaper includes Yoko. She's the series' lead female character, after all, no matter what misogynists may say to the contrary. Consider how Gainax treated Yoko from episode 11 onward: in that episode she was presented entirely out of character, as being angry and jealous; then she was publicly humiliated in episode 12, via completely unbelievable outcomes to athletic events; then she was pushed into the distant background for the remainder of the series -- all this just to make Nia appear deserving of center stage (a result of executive meddling which was not embraced by the Gainax creative staff).

Don't be tentative in your inclusion of Yoko. You did a great job on this wallpaper, so be proud of that and don't be ashamed to give Yoko the credit she's due -- which is considerable. For one thing, both Kamina and Simon would have been dead from episode 1, had Yoko not arrived on the scene. I greatly admire the Bachika sisters because they were real freedom fighters like Yoko; and Kittan was a much more worthy boyfriend for her than sexist Kamina ever could have been. But it's Yoko who was the cornerstone of experience, logic, maturity and reason both on the battlefield and elsewhere.
