I've never read or watched Clover before. But the art and story fascinated me.
Like my previous one, this doujin started off from a doodle. This time of that bird perched on the branch. It was originally penciled but then I thought it would look great inked. So I took out my black pen and started outlining it all. After the bird, I just let it develop and it became a fanart for Clover. :D
The scene: It's in a huge, and somewhat fanciful aviary. Naturally there are birds.. One of the 'specimens' is that girl (I can't remember her name.. ^_^' ) She's rather well-kept, and it is a beautiful cage, what with tall stained glass walls and pillars.. But essentially it's a prison. What my idea was that there she was surrounded by all that glory and the flying birds, when a gush of wind blew in from outside. With that she gets a scent of the outside world, which made her wonder what it is like out there..
Well, this was the first time I used pens to draw. I think I might have overdone it with the water.. but all in all, not bad for a first time, methinks.. I know the lines don't totally look great (the scan cruelly reveals all the scratchiness but not all the textures) but do take a look..
I resized this and cleaned it up a little with the clone tool; there was a line in the middle. That was from when I lent it to someone to take a look.. and he folded it. -_-
