I know this isn't the most perfect work for an original, but it's my first ever attempt at a full doujin type piece.
I had a friend that actually asked me to do this for her. She was the one that asked for a couple dancing, so close almost kissing, and she wanted it either in a ballroom or outside in the rain type setting.
Please be kind lol This is new territory for me lol

Nice work, especially the drawing of the couple themselves. Everything looks proportionally accurate. You have a really good background and layout, but I think the textures kind of take away from the wallpaper. The bricks look realistic which doesn't match since you have a drawing as your focal. Same with the ground and the grayish texture. Maybe try lowering the opacity or overlaying them over a color layer. As for the bricks, maybe something simpler. There are some good brick tutorials out there. Other than that, the light posts and the fog do look very great though. I'm sorry to say so much stuff to work on, as you said you are new with this type of piece. But I think with a few changes this could be a very nice romantic wallpaper.
And 81 hours in 3 days? That would be like 2 hours of sleep total and nothing but computer the rest of the time!
lol
oops, it was about 31 hrs, I had used a template I normally use to copy and paste the main facts but forgot to edit the time in hours. My mistake. (DOH).
Thanks so much for the tips on background. This is one reason why I like this place so much as I showed the pic to some friends first (but they are all partial to me and don't know anything about art or drawing) so they loved it of course lol. It just didn't look "Right" to me, and hard sometimes to ask those not experienced what is "wrong".
Here I get more trained eyes to help with that
WldEdit:
Thank goodness I save all the psd files lol... changed the wallie a bit.. toned down the opacity on the bricks and road. Thank you again A4L
The drawing of the couple looks good, I like the pose and the expression on his face.
The reflection looks nice, but it's a bit too opaque, it shouldn't be that visible. The brick texture isn't bad, but at the top of the wallpaper, the angles are wrong. The perspect slants one way, while the texture bricks slant the other way.
