Edit: Thank you for moving it to the right category, I must have missed it when I submitted the wallpaper ^_^'

Thought I should mention this: I didn't rip the wallpaper, my user name is sweetdevil on TheOtaku.com and infinity-explorer on AnimePaper. I didn't include the user name on Minitokyo because it would have looked too cluttered and I didn't think I would submit it to MT anyway, but I did.

It rained 2 times today and has been quite cold for July, so I was inspired to make this wall. I remembered the scan after seeing Kelsey's e-card; now I don't want people to think I ripped the idea or anything, think of it as a...set! And this is the very lovely image she scanned (thanks a lot! ^__^): Underwater by Angel Zakuro.

What I did was combine textures and a lot of different layer blending modes. I used the Gaussian Blur with a radius of 10 a few times and the Sharpen filter to make the image look more clear. I wanted it to look mysterious and slightly dangerous, so I made it darker with some layers on Linear Light (I don't use that filter too often, I use Soft Light and Overlay).

A fun part was the lantern fish and the boy. After using a soft brush with a diameter of 400 something, I set it to Soft Light, then took the Burn and Dodge Tools and played with the shadows on the boy's face and arm, to make them more contrasting, compared to everything around.

Let's not forget the bubbles! There were none in the scan and I added a lot. If you look at the right side, you'll see more there than in the rest of the wallpaper, since there's a school of fish there. And fish are swimming. Swimming=moving, moving=bubbles. Simple as that :] The difference in shades of blue on the right is from me playing around with lights -sun rays hitting the water. And even though they're not too visible, I also made the ripples on the water, like he just dove in. They're there for the sake of realism, the top part didn't look too much like water in the scan.

I've started writing longer descriptions o_o" Oh well, now you get to see what I did! Comments and favs are very appreciated! :3
Oh, I nearly forgot about it: 1600 x 1200 version.

wow youve changed it so great! ITS SO AWESOME!

you have changed is a bit i would say, but i think it was a lot of work and you did a really good job. I like your version more than the original scan. And Yours looks more like deep diving than the original^^

I really like what you did with the scan, it looks just better like that (the anlger fish seems more justified like that also XD). It looks more mysterious to me but not really dangerous (they all look too relaxed for that).

It's a video game, m'dear! One of the greatest I have ever played.
You have brought great justice to Serge! T_T I... love... you >.<
What you did the original scan is pretty awesome (and something I doubt I'd ever be able to do). As Clover said, it really does look like deep sea diving.
Great job, Pande! ^^

Chrono Cross! And it's also in wide-screen! <3 The world needs more Chrono Cross wallpapers! Manipulating the scan as you did turned out absolutely fabulous. Basically, this is how the original scan should have looked- there's so much depth to it now and the rich but dark colors make the lighter parts feel like they are glowing. Now if only MT will stop telling me the widescreen version is pwned, I'll be set (I want to put it on my desktop!) ^_^'

Really magical and vintage-like, pande-san~ :D
I liked the lightening and texturing lots, great job~ ;p
