This wallpaper turned out so different from what I had in mind when I started. First of all I wanted to use a completely different scan, but I couldn't get the lineart for that one right because it was too sketchy so I picked this one instead. I also wanted to make a simple scenic background featuring a Tokonoma and Ikebana but I couldn't pull that of either so I thought "Screw it all" and went for a simple wall screen as background, the flowers and butterfly were vectored from this scan.
Somehow I have the feeling this is a pretty failure, I wanted to make another
Minimal-ism entry but looking at it now I don't have the feeling it's good
(simple) enough.
I guess I can still tell you what my interpretation of the scan is though. With
all the floating hair and clothing it looks a little supernatural on the
surface, to me it's an portrayal of Rin's situation. Her aim is to kill Anotsu
and avenge her family, but somehow I have the feeling she isn't really getting
closer to achieving this (more the reverse in fact), she's in a way just sitting
and not moving towards her aim. Still it's not like nothing is changing because
Rin herself and her situation are changing throughout the series, there's always
movement/change like in her hair and clothing in that scan. Even if there's no
visible progress there's still a change.
Those are my thoughts and musing about it now it's somehow sad that I couldn't
think of a better background and it's unbelievable how I suck at
"attaching" people to the floor they're supposed to stand/sit on.
On a more positive note, they're making an anime for this awesome series this
summer. I hope there'll be fansubs for this.
Textures were taken from DA! (though they've been taken off the site now) and Dioma@Deviantart, patterns were taken from Hybrid Genesis.
Other Resolutions: 1600x1200 | 1280x1024
Hope you like this a little all comments and favs will make me a happy waller.

I loved this wallpaper. It's neutral and at the same time, very feminine. Really well done. Congrats for the wonderfull work!
Oh thank you! Not only for making a beautiful Blade of the Immortal wallpaper... and also for making something so wonderful, so beautiful out of my humble scans. Thank you!
Very lovely colors :3 I like the way you merged the 2 scans to create this kind of setting. Great work!
This is really beautiful. I like the elegance in her posture, it matches with the over tone of the wall and the wall screen images of flowers and butterflies. nice job on this!
Hi, there! I so knew it was yours just by looking at the thumbnail...

Your wallpapers are very elegant and somehow mature. I really love your work.
Your compositions are always balanced and pleasant to see.
Keep up with the good work!
+ fav!
Kisses...
I totally knew this was your's. When I saw the thumbnail, I immediatly said, "Anja submitted a new wallpaper!"
And this is pretty win in my opinion. I actually think it'd make a wonderful minimal-ism entry (though I'm not the one who decided that).
I love the earthy tones you've used. The vector is just... so awesome.
And I love the wallscreen designs. <3
I love the vector, nice expression and feeling poured
into it. Back ground is beautiful, you like picking on yourself huh?
I love the flowers and simple bg, I feel like I'm watching a play.
Great job :3
It's definitely not simple, I think the flowers have killed the minimal look
.
Even though I am not really fond of the colours here (I rather despise brown), somehow the combination of red and brown seems to be very fitting. I also like the mood of the wallpaper - the sad face of the girl, the red mooon and the obi mysteriously untying itself.
