This is an entry for
ANIWOOD
contest.
Time: 3 days
Layers: 50 (after the mass merging of the individual vector layers, 120 before
that...).
Hardest Part: Mentally planning out the outfits for the girls.
Movie of Inspiration: A Tale of Two Sisters.
I chose the movie A Tale of Two Sisters when I found this scan on Animpaper. Since there wasn't any particular scene that I thought I could wall, I went instead with mimicking the official movie poster.
I wanted to capture the old vintage feel that the poster and entire movie has, so when I vectored the girls I changed their outfits to match the style of the movie. I vectored them right down to the shading on their dresses and added a vintage dress texture over each of their outfits to deepen the effect. The background wallpaper was a combination of two textures that came from devianart, which I overlayed to get get one more similar to that in the movie. The sofa is actually a stock photo that I filtered and touched up with paint in photoshop to help it match the setting. While it would have been more accurate to center the girls & sofa in the wallpaper, I wanted to keep it aesthetically pleasing as a wallpaper, and it looked kind of off in the center.
About the Movie & Game that I chose:
The movie A Tale of Two Sisters is a Korean film that is a combination ghost
story/psychological thriller about two sisters that return home to their father and stepmother after a stay in a mental
facility. Upon returning their stepmother is cruel and ghostly happenings take place after dark.
The game I used to represent the movie is Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly. This game focuses on twin sisters who are lost in a haunted village, and they seemed to fit the best for the Korean Film that I chose(let's face it, they're pretty, but kinda creepy at the same time <_<).
A bloodless version of the wallpaper can be found HERE.

OMG you vectored 3D renders!? GAAAAAH, I tried that once and it's hard.
You did good.... you did super good.
I love the vintage feel to death. The textures and patterns are supurbly done.
I just.... can't get enough of the wallpaper. It's so well done.
And I've always found those twins to be cute. <3
Truely a fantastic job, Rain! :) -
The vector looks truly great, I love the faded out colours and the textures fit perfectly.

I think it's very well done, the atmosphere is what I'd call "classically creepy" and ti gives me the chills whenever I look at it. Maybe it's also from the way the blood splatters contrast their innocent expressions? Whichever it is, your wallpaper sure gives off some sinister vibes (even the version without the blood is disturbing)!
Good luck in the contest! :D You have a favorite from me, please keep up the good work! -
Incredible work! It's really good, :D

Oooh, I'm using the blood-less version as my desktop.
The wallpaper is creepy as it is, the blood only covers your wonderful and detailed vectoring.
Great idea, I love it! -
Creepy! It's very well done: the vectoring is neat and I love the patterned wall! Awesome entry ;)

Very beautifully textured, I enjoyed the bloody effects. I love your pattern choice, it actually looks closely similar like in the poster. Great work, I especially like the multiple layers for the shading. ;)

scenes like this scare me O_O - the more realistic it looks the more it scare me - and this is really good so i can completely imagine it >.<! the whole scene is really well done - it does look like a horror movie

this deserves like a highlight or something, its so amazing and the vexel quality on the dress is totally perfect with the texture that you added. i mean usually i hate vexel-type work even if its takes alot of patience but its really cool what you've done with it! the only thing i can see that i would change is the depth of the blood. i think there needs to be another layer with slightly darker blood color.
seriously great job though
