I really like this!
The scan is superbly blended into the background (which looks great. Sometimes, working with stock makes everything look
over-filtered, but this bg looks just right against the scan!) That random little girl in the back gives everything
dept. I think it would have been creepier if it were a bit darker, but whatever! It looks kick ass like this =D
Oh, and the "Otherside" version is creepy enough, so no worries there 0_0 *doesn't like looking at scary
little girl*

Indoor Entry for 
contest!
I guess I vectored/painted my sanity out because lately I've been enthusiastic about making more photo-manipulated wallpapers. This time I took a stock photo of a penitentiary and thought it was perfect for a Silent Hill wallpaper.
I started with this image here and cleaned up certain areas (this image is has been shrunk from it's original size). You might be able to tell that there are people in the background which a I had to edit out, along with the sign in the middle of the hall. The angle was perfect for the scan of Heather, which I tilted a bit to give the almost dizzying feeling that you get in the Silent Hill games. I added the creepy text on the wall and drew by hand the arrows pointing to the mysterious girl at the end of the hallway. Lastly, I added in a bunch of movie posters (mostly old ones) and tweaked them to look torn, tattered, and a bit grungy. Why are there posters in a prison? Who knows, that kind of stuff happens in Silent Hill, apparently. If you can name all of the posters I'll give you a cyber cookie ;)
Significance:
I chose the name Nostalgia because I was playing off of Heather's former self from whom she reincarnated- Cheryl (the
little girl at the end of the hall). This wallpaper and my Otherside version play off of each other in that Cheryl
represents Heather's good memories and is shown as the light in the darkness. Alessa in the other wallpaper is more
menacing and though illuminated, she is more fiery in appearance. The arrow in this version points Heather's path toward
Cheryl, with the text daring her through the dark.

Wow I think it looks awesome and atmospheric. The background you made looks really great and I think it could easily pass off as official art. The otherside version is effing creepy.

This is some high quality work. Amazing job at blending the background and scan. And I totally love the "Otherside" version. I actually think that it would be a perfect entry in the Dark-Wallies' contest. The deadline isn't till the 8th (which is tomorrow here, but I dunno which timezone it's running on). Too bad you can't upload different versions of the same wallpaper. :/
Still, this is fabulous work. It is clearly diserving of the high-darkening at Dark-Wallies. ^^

You've done a great job manipulating the photo. It's been really well done and merges with the scans perfectly. It is difficult to see the distinction between the background and scan - it's more like a single image. It's also great that you've added your own bits. Fantastic piece of work :)
