I don't draw that much in the way of fanart, but I've wanted to do a picture
like this of Sakura for sometime now. I started this piece almost a month ago
but decided to finish it recently. It didn't really take that long when I was
actually working on it, I just have a hard time motivating myself sometimes
I had originally planned on using one of Sakura's feathers in the piece, but
that just seemed so obvious I opted to use only the symbol that appears on her
feathers, and after comparing the two I definitely like it better this way.
There's not a whole more lot that I can think of to say about this, so I'll skip
to the statistics.
Time: 6 hours
Layers: 52 before merging, 36 after
merging
Inspiration: Sakura! (no kidding, right?
)
Hand-drawn and Scanned
Painted in Adobe Photoshop
Star brushes from LadyVictoire.
This artwork is also posted on my deviantart account.
Edit: I've tweaked Sakura's skintone a bit, hopefully it looks more red and less yellow from other computers.

I like the sparklyness. =]
anyway, the skin tone is kinda grayish yellow, it's rather sickly looking. Healthy skin has a red undertone from blood. (there's usually a bit more red on the cheeks, tip of the nose, and obviously the lips) Also, the legs have no knees. Either that or Sakura has no thighs. :P
ah, other than that, it looks fine. the fog is pretty cool.
Hmm... Proportioning seems to be the biggest improvment area. I'll try to remember, but maybe you can look up guides. But I believe it was the shoulders are about 3 head's-width long across, and the body 5 head's-length long up and down. Of course, those are GUIDELINES and can be altered to an artist's style. Her body looks good, actually, if only her head were smaller for it.
Before I read your description I thought it was colored before scanned. Looks like colored pencil/watercolor and it's really pretty. Great job on the coloring/shading of her clothes!
