Gankutsuou is actually one of my favourite series, ever. My very first vectored
wallpaper featured Haydee in her opera dress and the series style influenced my
own style very much. I hope I've somewhat improved since then, but vectoring
Gankutsuou is still difficult for me. It's like this:
If Gankutsuou's art style is like a shimmering, polished diamond mine is like
mud, with some leaves and stones thrown in for good measure.
Actually I wanted to turn this into a wallpaper, but after vectoring the image to my satisfaction there wasn't anything to add anymore. I'm a little anxious that it'd be deleted in the wallpaper section because it's really minimalistic, that's why I'll upload it as vector art.
When Albert and his friends visit the Count at his house, he introduces Haydee as his 'noble doll'. Everyone is quite shocked to hear him talking like that but Haydee assures them that it's like that and she doesn't mind it, she says something along the lines that she's just like a little branch which allows the flower (aka the Count) to bloom. Even after all he did some episodes later Haydee's still deeply devoted to the Count and after seeing that this hasn't changed five years after the end of the plot sometimes I wondered, if sometimes she'd pick up some old memento or keepsake and muse over when and where things had gone wrong.
The scan for the vector was taken from AP, the texture for her dress, her hair and some of the background was stolen at Instant Noodles, other textures and patterns are from Bashcorpo and Hybrid Genesis. The box was vectored off a screenshot, the flowers from this scan.
Here are the wallpaper resolutions:
1280x1024
1600x1200
1920x1200
Hope you enjoy.

Oooooh, pretty. I love the Gankutsuou artwork so much, and I think you do a lovely job at complimenting the series. I don't know why you would say your style is like mud, leaves and stones, because I think this is really good.
You did a splendid job! Keep on creating beautiful vectors and wallpapers, Erdbeermilch! ^^
Call me strange (I know you want to
) but
the name that came in my mind when I saw this vector was 'Kagura'... Dunno
why...
On topic... I absolutely adore her white skin and delicate pose. The whole picture radiates her femininity and grace.
I see you used the 'Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei' style which is rather cute.
The flowers are a very nice touch.
I doubt the wallpaper would be deleted, but I enjoy the vector to the fullest, since I can see every detail.
Very nice. I love the simplicity and the box and flowers are lovely.
great vector and wallie!
i'd fave it, but some bug seems to appear ... will get back to it later
actually? hehe. Gankutsuou is also one of my favourite anime series and one of a handful that has re-affirmed what i love about anime amidst such generally deplorable works.
have you read Dumas's "Count of Monte Christo"?
i love how you captured the beauty, innocence, fragility, and compassion which are the essence of Princess Haydee's character.
your doubts about the wallpaper looking "simplistic" and being deleted are unfounded.
As evidenced by this Screen-shot your wall stands on it's own.
i would consider submitting your wallpaper to the simplism project.
actually on all other forums/sites i use the famous quote-- "Death is certain. Time is uncertain.
your recent artistic endeavors in the last 4 months have left me very happy. ^^
