For the contest at Vector Wallers.
Ha haa! Death Note meets Saw! :3 I had this idea floating in my head for months but couldn't get to work because of my
other projects. Plus my desktop had been craving for a Mikami Teru wallpaper ^_^' Mikami needs more love! So I went
looking for images of Saw because it had to be Saw! I'm a die-hard fan of both DN and Saw :D I found this scan in my DN
folder: Death Note DVD 12 by
sandraian and thought it was just too good to ignore! Then I found this poster (beware, it's huge) of Saw III and
decided to use Jigsaw's cape. It was originally going to be the only thing vectored but then I thought Mikami would look
out of place if I just extracted him and added him there >_>
I proceeded to vector him the "hard" way - using shape layers only. No raster layers were used in the making of this vector XD At first I wanted to have the vector on a black background with the writing as it is right now but it looked too simple and low effort, so I added that abstract thingy behind him :\ The Clouds filter has never been one of my favorites but it did come in handy here. As for the vector, the in-depth shading is done using gradients, glows etc. No raster layers, like I said before.
Wow, I actually wrote a long description! :o Well, hope you like the wallpaper, I certainly like how it looks on my desktop :) Please leave a comment, criticism is welcome and very appreciated!

Original vector size: 1772 x 3672
Time spent: 3-4 hours (most of it was working on the background >_>)
Other resolution: 1600 x 1200
Trivia: Those lines are all from Saw films. They're either said by John or other characters.

quick comment:
everything's neat and i love that u used shapes [finally what i always wanted from you >:D]
but i think saw's cape looks a bit weird and if u didnt explain it in the describtion id never understand it was a cape ^_^'
and i think u should have changed the lighting, or at least make the facial shadow darker because it looks kinda pale....
anyway, great job and i love saw's too >:D -

Isn't saw one of those movies where people do nasty things to each other? Not really my type of movie but I admit that the poster looks really cool.
As for your vector I really like it so far, but I don't dig the red gradient/glow around him because it takes away from the contrast that looked so great on the original. I woul've prefered if you'd choosen to add more detail to your vector instead (on the hair and scarf for example).
It's still a good wallie and I wish you good luck for the contest. :) -
