First thing's first: Today is April 16th. It's the 20th Anniversary of 2 StudioGhibli Movies: Tonari No Totoro & Hotaru no Haka. We at the Studio-Ghibli decided to celebrate this event. I was to make a wallie celebrating Totoro and abul was supposed to celebrate HnH. Unfortunately he had to go to a French Contest and was unable to finish his work, therefore this is a present to both the movies. *throws confetti all around*

Second thing: This was supposed to have a different title but I was told not many people would understand its true meaning ( T_T Am I that weird?!). My planned title was: 'Mommy, I don't wanna go on the slide anymore' (How many of you understand what I mean? Tell me in the comment *hope*)

Now, for the wall itself: When I first found the scan I wanted to just recreate the scene like in the Nausicaa work, but somewhere in the middle of Mei's lineart I got this idea of a slightly pop-artish approach to the wall. This is the result - personally I like the lively colours so hopefully you will also. I admit I went overboard with the patterns, but it looks funkeh so it's good. Well not much to say - it didn't really take too much time - it's more of a concept work than a hardcore masterpiece.

For all those who didn't see Totoro: The girl's name is Mei and the big hairy thing is Oh!Totoro which is most proud of its mouth (how can that be I wonder...?)

Details:
Layers: I don't know the same amount os there are different colours on the scan + 2
Scan: here
Sidenote: I lol'ed most of the time while doing this

Great vectoring on this one and I love
the colors you used, along with the texture on
them. Nice job

Haha~ I was wondering who did this Totoro wall XD
I really like the use patterns for the shadows~ :)
The colors are happy colors, and it makes me happy XD
And Happy 20th Anniversary Totoro and HnH!~
Does it mean that Totoro is 20 years old? :nya: (Or is he immortal ^_^')

^^ this is just so cute! nice work on the teeths, such perfect dental! Love the coloring and texture as well. very adorable vector work. great job!

You can't go wrong with a giant Totoro! XD

The first visual hook is the colour. Candy pinks & purples are so different for this scene, that you're drawn in to see more. Then all the cute little details and touches of pattern are just adorable! This is a wonderful piece of work!

LOL This is amazing!
I love the patterns, plain awesome. And the colors! They're so funky and they definitely draw the attention into the wall.
Amazing job, kashi!

please, don't laugh at my guess ><
but i think your planned title has something to do with the image, since Mei is looking like she's on a water slide and going down to Totoro's mouth, that's what i think
about the wallpaper, i think it's very cute, I love Mei the most, she's so cute >< however, i think you should make the wall more define, like using various colors, other than light blue and purple, in order to make it more pop art, just my piece of mind, ignore it if it sounds silly

haha that's awesome! XD

u know what i think about it ;)

It's sooo sweeet! I normally would not want that much amount of pink in my desktop, but I'll make an exception for this. I think Totoro's big belly would make a great slide :D It must have been fun with his soft fur and his breath.
