theres one scan of kamui and its drawn in full-body, but for the cover they put the close up on his face so the lines
looked exactly like what u did :)

OK, so this was born from the collab between MyrrhLynn and I, for round 4 of w?w. [MyrrhLynn will be submitting the W?W version later ^_^]
She said she'd wanted to wall this [black and white] scan forever. So straight away I knew I wanted to make 2 versions, a nice version to try and do justice to the scan she liked, and an hard to guess version for w?w. [Only the 'unguessable' version wasn't so 'unguessable' after all. X-P]
MyrrhLynn made an [awesome] vector of the outlines of THIS SCAN and then handed it over to me.
I decided it would look best as a 1920x1200 wall and so I extended out Ashura's ear and hair as well as deleting the extra panel over Yasha and filling in the missing parts of his hair and armour.
For this version I wanted to make it look as close to a real CLAMP coloured scan as I could ^_^
I painted the cloud background from scratch in photoshop [With my beloved Wacom Graphire 4 tablet, of course! XD],
trying to match the style of some other clamp scans which use those kind of clouds, and added some noise and textures to
it to achieve that 'scan' look. I
Then I painted Ashura and Yasha in the same way.
A lot of clamp's recent stuff has that really rough look to their outlines and to duplicate that I simply set the outline layer to 'dissolve', merged it with an empty layer underneath and used gaussian blur at a 0.4 setting. I think it's a little TOO rough, though ^_^'
I don't know too much about this pair because while I love the Tsubasa art, I'm not such a fan of the manga/anime [Love xxxholic, though], and I haven't read RG Veda - yet. But from what I could figure out they are on opposite sides of two countries at war and have a really tragic story [No really, a tragic story from CLAMP X-P]
So I decided to put them in amongst all these flying arrows, an idea lifted straight from this Tomoyo/Kurogane SCAN by Saa-chan. I vectored and painted some of the arrows from that scan and placed them around our tragic pair. :)
After all of that, the hardest part was actually just trying to find colours that worked together. I wanted to use red on Yasha so much, but I decided I should stick to the colouring of him in the anime. I couldn't find any coloured manga pics of him.
*Takes a big breath* So that's about it really. X-P

I LOVE this. I love the Ashura/Yasha relationship, it's so painful and sweet. I like the w?w version, but I like this one better. Lovely.

CLAMP the unbeaten queens of drama.
The scene you've come up with really fits the scan, everything seems so tragic and dramatic (the arrow in ashura's shoulder looks really ouch though XD), and the colours are great as well. However I agree with you on the outlines, they look too rough to me.
I'm not that much a fan of tsubasa either but I know many old CLAMP series and their relationship and situation can't really be that much more dramatic/ tragic/ awkward here than it was in RG Veda. XD -

I really like this story in tsubasa so seeing a picture of it makes me very happy. i like how you colored it, coming from a black and white scan, the low toned colors used for the background and everything fit the mood. very nicely done.
