The more I look at this, the more I like it. The tears are perfect, the painty feeling is awesome. You already know I like the idea behind the lineart! I'm looking forward to seeing the widescreen version!
Artist Comment
I started this wall a while ago (maybe a year?) and just recently decided to finish it up. I vectored the girl, and then painted the bg and parts of her. The tears I added because I felt like they fit the mood. I wanted to keep it simple, and really keep the focus on the girl, who really struck me when I saw the scan.
If you're in need of another resolution, I'll be posting some widescreen, etc, versions at my website, The Limelight Network, by the end of the week (prob. tonight?) so check for them there!
Thanks for the comments and critiques!

This wall may look simple, but upon full-view, you'll notice the dynamic yet clean vectoring and the soft painting. Gentle morning colours combined with the misty landscape create a nostalgic mood that fits the girl's pose really well. Good to see you back afwells!

This is simply amazing. The tears are really well made and it has a neat painty effect, although it's a vector. The simplicity of the background is a huge plus and adds to the wall's creativity.

I love the soft colours, fits the mood really well. The painting and vectoring are both well-done. It's simple but powerful in some way ^^

*sniff sniff*....
XD jk ;P really well done though! ^^ -
Good to see you again!
Saw this on AP, and I have to say that I adore the colors =D The hint of fog (smoke? clouds?) is great and I like the "messy" vectoring. Great job! -
I LURVE FOR GORGEOUS COLORS AND BEAUTIFUL DESKTOPAGE *o*

This is truly an exceptional vector work... and the colors are so soft, making everything seem so nostalgic indeed.
Excellent work, deserves a fav ^^ -
OMG this is AMAZING! I love the colors and the emotion of the piece. Wonderful work.

I was instantly attracted to this piece when I saw it in the Highlight Gallery. Not just because it was highlighted (don't get me wrong), but because there was something about the colours and feel that seemed...promising. And I was not disillusioned at all. It's beautiful! I really like the softness and smoothness of the lines and paintwork. While her hair colour is not quite the same as the anime, it IS sort of evening light anyway so why not? Her tears make me feel like comforting her...she definitely needs some comforting after all she's been through. And her being an empathic Water maiden (well, sort of) tears do suit the wall. Of course I am faving it! My first fave after a long exile thanks to faulty computers! Cheers! To you, not the comps, at least..*winks*
EDIT: oh wait, I read the highlight comment...it's actually morning light? Makes sense since the light is so softly warm...

Let me tell you, you used the scan perfectly. The composition of the wallpaper is perfect, and the mood is very well-conveyed in the image.
The scan is quite striking too, which is a plus. Great job!
