yay! finally posting it >:D
actually i finished it yesterday night but i didnt want to post it [1 submission
a week rule]
though i just couldnt wait to show it to everyboy ^^
im proud to say that its a
95% PAINTY
WALLPAPER!
the only thing i vectored are the outlines and the hair
oh and the red ribbon
everything else is painted in photoshop!
actually it was supposed to be the entry for the contest hosted at wings-lovers
in october
i wanted to vector the scan and add some birds
but then i had no time for it so i didnt even start vectoring it
though now im so happy that i didnt vector it because vector would look
weird
started working on it in december
vectoring took me whole 8 hours, because of the dress and the scan quality
belmirky did a good job cleaning the scan, but some parts of the dress were
lost/cleaned wrongly scan
can be found here
so i had to use another tiny scan of it to reconstruct those parts
even though it only has 3 parts, it has 22 shapes, because of the order
here is the sample that shows the vectored part of the
image
after i finished the vector part, i started painting >:D
first i painted the ears, then painted the skin, which was the easiest part of
the whole thing
the next step was the dress and it was srsly the hardest part 
actually it wasnt that hard, but it took a lot of time, and it was VERY
annoying
btw, everything's painted with the hard brush and all the soft shades are done
with the smudge tool or eraser
then the fun part began >:D
srsly, painting the leaves was fun, and not even annoying
and painting the tree itself was... interseting 
i did a lot of smudging to make it look like a real tree
and the last step was to just paint the clouds and thats it, the wallie's done

btw, the weird shapes of clouds arent my idea, they were like that in the scan
so dont yell at me

so basically i just repainted the scan
here u can see the comparison of the scan and my re-cg
the original dimensions are 5000x3500
the psd filesize is 45 mb
and thats actually all i wanted to say

Looks like I came online just in time! All I can say is WOW. All of it is truly awesome. I love the fall colours and the tree is just great. And you already know how much I am jealous of your painted Chii

is gorgeous work! My only advice is maybe you could provide a textless version,
since the text can be distracting in a scenic wall like this. Anywho, I love it!

I like the whole thing, it looks great but I think that Chii and the tree look too painty for the background. I mean, dude, the clouds are really sharp.
And yes, please, we need a textless version!

Really love this but as most of the people said, the sky should be more as smooth as the tree, since they all are part of the background. The text doesn't seem to be a problem to me, and I think it looks good and the font is really nice! (I had that one, but lost it when my computer died... -.-)
You already know I love your works, 'cause they are all beautiful! ^_^
I must say that when I saw this on the frontpage, I knew it was an abul-made painted-vector-wall!

Well! The overall style is bright, clean bold colors... so I don't really mind the solid-ness of the sky (it actually looks pretty cool, imo). But the leaves are a bit weird looking. Also, Chi looks more like she's floating on top of the branch because she has a nice pretty outline but tree doesn't. It doesn't really mesh well.
Also! (because you know I'm a lighting freak xD)
The background is very orange. (no duh!) but the highlights on Chi and the tree are not. Really, Chi's coloring is purplish pink, but the lighting is orange, so it doesn't really match.
The bark underneath where Chi is sitting should be a different color entirely (better than just using the same hue with a darker value. The lighting actually is quite bland for such a dramatic time of day.
That said I really like the weird solid dottiness of the leaves. It's quite pleasant. xD
The vectoring is excellent. Chii's hair is beautiful.

Chii is nicely done, but I think the tree is too... smudgy (I guess would be the word) compared to Chii and the background. The leaves are alright, and I like the clouds =)
