i love that sakura tree
Artist Comment
I made this as a gift to my cousin Emma for her 16th birthday! I love ya, Emma!
So, anyway, before I made this, I knew nothing about Mushishi. ^^;
Looks cool though! o:
Well I found the scan via the google device (dreadfully small and low quality) so I vectored it. I would've vectored it regardless, for I believe that the more hard work and dedication you put into a wallpaper, the more satisfied you are with the outcome. Don't get me wrong, making wallpapers without vectors take a while and requires hard work, but personally making a vector from a scan and making a wallpaper with the scan adds a personal touch to the whole piece in my opinion.
I wanted the wallpaper to look as if it had been cut from many pieces of old, colored parchment, which is why I didn't use the effect on the thick black borders and tree. Because I made the tree look so dead, I decided to add 3 little peach blossoms, to emphasize that there is always hope for life. Now I know that the shadows do not coincide with the light source, but that was a mistake that I made that I didn't realize before it was too late to fix. It's barely noticeable... I hope. I was going for a sunset-like theme, which explains the oranges and pinks that I used in the bg.
