I promised my best friend to fulfill his request of an Optimus Prime wallpaper
before the end of the year so here it is! I haven’t seen the movie yet
and I’m not much of a “Transformers” fan but hey, I
guess this can be dedicated to all the fanboys out there! 
The inspiration for this wallpaper comes straight from one of the official
poster. However, it would have been boring if I tried to reproduce the exact
same background so I choose to stylize it my way. I didn’t come up with
the silhouette concept right from the start: I was playing with the original
picture, trying to figure out a good method to blend it well in the background
when the idea hit me. Since I ditched the planet details for the background, why
wouldn’t I do the same with Optimus Prime?
My goal was to make this picture epic because hey, it’s Optimus Prime
afterall! For that matter, I only worked with lights and shadows. And of course,
the light had to bear shades of blue (blue = nice guys; red = bad guys). The
sunlight was created using a rounded shape with several layers of outer and
inner glow. I then added a radial glow behind the silhouette to make it blend
and interact with the background. To wrap this up, I just had to use the famous
quote “My name is Optimus Prime” as a title with the official
“Transformers” font I textured. In the end, I’m really
glad of the final result: it looks wicked!
