Been awhile since my last wallpaper but it's all due to mad studying for finals, which are finally over! This wallpaper has been sitting patiently on my hard drive for a long time as I get plowed over by school.
I always wanted to make a KHR wallpaper since I love this series but I couldn't really find a scan I wanted to work with.
Then I saw the cover page for CH104 and Gokudera seriously looked cool. So I tried very hard to coloured this b/w scan with my lack of artistic skills. This took almost 60 layers alone. His red shirt shadows took the longest because I just couldnâ??t get it to look right. I redid it countless times that I think my eyes started bleeding (just kidding but they were bloodshot). Overall, I'm happy with the way it turned out.
Then I redrew part of the scan and extended the railing, which turned into a bridge later on. I vectored-painted everything else. The water took some time to get the right effect. The clouds were from a random stock I found in my folder.
I was going to used sakura petals/leaves/flower petals but just to be a little
different I used paper airplanes. Those who have read KHR will know the
significant of the paper airplanes but I'll briefly explain for those who are
not familiar with the series:
- Gokudera used paper airplanes for his training
- The seven rainbow coloured airplanes represents a different guardian of the
Vongola (Mafia) Family ie. Gokudera is the Storm Guardian, represented by red.
On a side note: The indigo airplane took the longest! Ahh....the reflection in the water I mean since I couldn't find a suitable stock photo to look off of that I actually made a paper airplane and based it off that.
Here's a widescreen version with the paper airplanes:
1920x1200
Here's a version without the paper airplanes:
1600x1200
1920x1200
The wide-screen personally looks better with the paper airplanes, and the 1600x1200 looks better without it.
Reaching about 200 layers, my computer almost crashed
Comments or suggestions, all much appreciated!
Thanks for all the comments and favs on my wallpapers!
Sorry I couldn't get around to everyone!

It's simply beautiful!
awesome~ love it very much. ^^
katekyo hitman reborn wallie i see, the series sure seem to be up and in-series right know and i guess i'm like only one from people i know who isn't familiar with it xD
that
way the theme and atmosphere gets more meaning and filling. on the perspective
the water looks bit too upward compared to the position of the character sitting
on the bridge, but i think it's mostly because of the wave around the big yellow
plain ~ if it would be more like a ellipse, it maybe would go better along the
perspective. reflection of clouds and the movement of the water are nicely
captured, gives nicely liveliness for the atmosphere since the character seems
quite moody or thingking something serious. colouring is smootly done and tones
go well with each other but then again it's somehow gloomy or how i would say
lacking of brighteness ^^; hope i don't offent you ~ i apologize ! maybe if you
would have added bit more thick shadowing it would have bring the forms out
better and not looking so flat and that way it would have more colour variety so
the light tones would have get brighter. but then again, if you wanted bit
serious atmosphere, this concept work well for it
you have
done nice job as you always do and sure shows the effort you have put in it ~
thank you for sharing it finally with us ^u^
your vectoring skills sure seem to be improving by every piece, i see much less little sharp edged squary like on the lining which really makes the vectoring look more clean and professional ~ keep up going girl ! you did great work re-drewing the scan too. really like the composition of the wallpaper ~ the brigde and water are split the wall and they fill the areas nicely but still don't make the concept look separated. the character is nicely placed in the middle of the wallpaper and it brought out to bee seen which makes it easy to focus on him and the background supports it well. paper air planes are nice add and really give unique feeling ~ the sakura petals you first thought would have been quite usual on the walls these days so it wouldn't have been so special and the way the plains has special meaning with the manga is nothing but big plus
oh nice job with the coloring! Expecially, cuz gokudera is my fauvorit character!
It sure looks very clean and beautiful!
I couldn't help falling in love with its peaceful and calm feelings (because they have feelings, too).
Lovely work.
