another old wall. well, here's a "did you know" tidbit: fafner came
from fafnir, a character of legend who transformed into a dragon in order to
protect his treasure. so "soukyuu no fafner" made me think of
"dragon(s) of the azure". this wall is a result of me liking to work
off small images, as it's based on this:

vectoring the foreground characters was the easy part, although it might be noted that i left out the lines on their cheeks (because i forgot x__x). i then proceeded to paint the sky and mountains with my old mouse. they were made to resemble the original as much as possible, which was a challenge because i'm a paint noob to date. i edited out the fafner (the machine) in favor of more clouds from my imagination that fit the style of the rather weird clouds in the original pic. the painful part was to paint the buildings by mouse. i originally planned to vector the buildings but i ended up liking how chalk brush + smudge imitated metallic surfaces. after all that, there were tweaks counteracted by undos, more fine adjustments, futile efforts at fixing and blending things together etc.
i understand that my vector and painting might not appear to blend very well. and of course, the bg is the first proper thing that i've ever painted, so there are bound to be flaws. still, i think i won't be blinding too many people. xD;; can't forget to thank my friends at fmn for the support.

nice vector, I like the multiple layers of shading ^^ (btw I think it looks better without those blush mark thingies 'cause they look kinda weird ...)
The background is very nicely painted, esp those clouds (I find clouds very difficult to paint DX ...)

I love the vector, and those clouds look yummy but my only complaint is how the colour turned out. Too dark at some parts while the other one looks much brighter. But it is a nice scene. So great work.
