Quote: Dude, who is this n00b who submitted this wallpaper? It's so n00blike. I also see a name in gold I can't remember anymore. Who IS (S)HE?!? Since when was there a new promotion ZOMGZZZ?!

...I bet lots of people will be like that u__u I HOPE YOU GUYS REMEMBER ME! :P

Misa presents to you the REAL Kuroi Misa. No, not me! In the wallpaper!

Paint-o-Rama's Anime Alphabet >_< I promise to wall an untaken letter! (I'm eyeing U and X... so nyah >_<)

Okay. I should really stop starting projects without finishing things I've left off. But I can't help it. I lose concentration Dx

Lately I've been into manga (not the ones listed in Minitokyo, anyway) and remembered about Kuroi Misa - that is, the actual anime character I named myself after.

I've never seen the manga before (only pictorial representations of the Misa in the movie) but lately I stumbled across this site (and I was happy they liked the movie, because I did!) and they had 2 rather generously sized manga scans.

"Eko Eko Azarak" is a manga drawn by Shinichi Koga in the 1970s/80s and it caused this huge commotion in the Japanese manga world to the point that in 1995 the first Live Action movie of it was made (Yoshino Kimika is so pretty as Misa!) with 3 more movies and 2 TV series after that. And that's how I only found about this amazing witch: through the first 2 movies. I'm yet to find the rest!

The art of Shinichi Koga was not to impress. At his best, it looks pretty manga-like, and at his worst, it looks not much more than a childish depiction of every day people and/or objects. Okay it's not that bad, but it's nothing mangaristic - it looks like art from a children's book. And considering he drew the manga for some magazine it's not a surprise it's like that. Luckily, the site had a scan that was more impressive than the other.

A few things to note: in every single manga scan I've seen of Misa, her hair colour is different or black (because it's manga, duh). Assuming her hair is not green, and following another scan where it's brown, I can safely conclude her hair is brown. Her hair is NOT blue! The only reason why it's blue is because of the lighting.

The original scan (which you'll find on the page) includes Misa, Cernunnos and some dude. Cernunnos is the horned figure on the left, and the other dude I'm not too sure -_- He could be anyone, really. Anyone into mythology and can tell me who he is? I'm sure Koga drew him in a way so he could be recognised.

I left out Cernunnos and the other guy because I wanted to try a simple background than a straight knock off of the scan. I might possibly make a wallpaper with them included with Misa in another pose later, but I'll be more motivated if I know who the guy is :P

The painting
I've been rusty. I admit. While this is nothing spectacular, and needs improvement, it's hopefully not too bad (if I was I wouldn't even submit >_<). Lighting was a pain. Kept it relatively simple.

Enough of me! ... oops. That's me in the wallpaper :\ Enjoy!

Lol, I kinda have this thought before I fullview it (or see the gold name). >_<

Yay for painting! And yay for PoR's Anime Alphabet! :D
Nice job on the painting. And the simple background looks good to stay focus on the girl. Great work!

Is that really the "real" Misa from Eko Eko Azarak?

Anyways, been ages since you submitted your last wallpaper, ehehehe! I may not be good at making those kind of things but the smudge is good. Don't worry, just practice again and you'll be the usual artist again. :)

    ;)

    woah, misa submitted something! XD

I like the pretty lights, the bright on black, and the design of her dress (nice details too, nice nailpolish XD ). However, I think some parts (like her dress and sleeve) are somewhat oversmudged, coupled with the fact that you didn't use outlines, make it look a bit messy ^^; Also, I find the lighting on her face a bit weird, maybe it's that straight shadow line along the right side of her face (if it's the shadow cast by the wand, it should still curve along the contour of her face, if you know what I mean ^^;; )

Nice job reconstructing the feet (I can't draw feet DX ). Is she floating or standing on something? 'cause if she's standing on something, there should be more shadow under her feet.

Good luck in the battle :)

Misa is submitting something, finally. :)

But uh... when I actually fullview the wallpaper, I actually had a hard time believing that you did that, Misa. *scractches head* But of course, for have been away from photoshop for such a long time, I can pretty much understand that myself. :p

Eko Eko Azarak eh... now this is the first time I've seen the real Misa. I'm not sure what the others might think but the drawing of Shinichi Koga kinda resembles the one who drew Fantastic Children. O_o

I think this one looks clean and effective in a way. Dark background makes the subject stand out more. Though this might not be your best wallpaper, but I'd prefer setting this as my wallpaper over ZOMG sparkly sexy maid wallie. ^^

You will be your normal self pretty soon once you start interact more with your photoshop, Misa. ^^ I'm sure you would. *hands Misa Lampie just in case for steaming*

lol- you just totally ripped that artist apart. i cannot believe you made a "wizard of darkness" wall without a pentagram.. ^^ :draws pentagram in the air: my only crit here is the letterboxing- i would have liked to seen a completed canvas.

i still cannot figure out the paint-o-rama contest for the life of me. oh yeah- i expect an Amano and Rain wall as penance for this submission. jk

    NWP- needs a "button".. :(

:tosses lady misa a blue rose:
