Another piece for my college portfolio. I'm supposed to create 5 works with some sort of relationship with each other, and I chose to do my 5 pieces involving hands. This one is my 2/5. I need to practice explaining my process for my works so here I go .__.

For this piece, my theme is "life". I first drew out the pose of the hand by taking a photo of my own hand and drawing it. I then scanned that drawing and began vectoring it in photoshop. After the hand was done, I began drawing out a rough draft on top of the hand, so I could get some ideas for my theme, "life". The idea I liked most, and used, was a tattoo that was 'coming to life' out of the hand. I decided to have a sub-theme for my coming to life theme, which was "view life in color". I wanted to emphasize more that everything outside the hand was in color and coming to life. As for time spent, I used a weeks worth, but no specific amount of hours were recorded.

I think I explained everything D: Oh and here's 1/5 of my hand theme is anyone is interested :O

your first drawing of this serie made me remember a sketch where one hand draw another hand... its so alike ^^'
well, i love the concept here; so clean&neat... but lacking the accustomed depth that i can see in your works. not for that reason your work stop to like me. is only a small detail.

I love how the tattoo comes to life. Nice vector, and it's so full of life like the title says.

This looks great, I think hands are difficult to draw but yours look really good (especially in the first picture of your series). I also love the colours you applied.
Some minor things I'd criticise are that I don't think the rather blurry texture in the background goes well with your detailed, neat vector and the nail on the ring finger looks kinda off (how it seems to stretch upwards).

Good luck with your portfolio :).

Beautiful! Again, I just love the concept - such a great idea!

My only criticism would be the tattoo looks a little flat compared with the flowers coming out of it - but I do understand that you probably wanted that flat look to emphasize the life coming out of it.

    Thanks for sharing!
