Ok, I've combined painting and vectoring for this
wallie, took me about a day because I kept
switching scans. Uhh not sure where to start, blended
the bg, colors and some smudging around. Added the tree
for a scenic feel since I didn't want the bg too be too empty,
and I blurred it to give a sense of distance.
The lantern is the main attraction since it has
the effects and stuff, I've been working on making
effects and stuff so this was a nice opportunity to try
some out. Smudge to give it a smoke feeling around the lantern,
it's not evil just that I didn't want it all bright, I thought red
was a nice tone color for it.
The half wall on the bottom (what the lantern is sitting on)
is vectored, very simple added texture and blending
and surprise the wall was done.
Extracted her, which took like half in hour since my mouse
is retarded and made the highlights around her to blend her in.
I feel like it looks too much like a painting
but ah well I'm done fussing with it.
I'm such a moron, I forgot to save the whole psd
so I can't erase or do any changes to the lantern but as
for the bird/ scenery I was lucky enough to finish it.
I'll probably tamper with it later to make some changes.

What's with that string that hold the lantern?
Anyway, nice job on the painting. Love the softness and how the textures blend together with it.

Love what you did with the lantern. The texture and lighting is great but use a stock string holding the lantern. It looks 2 dimensional.
