I originally found this image on another web site. However, Scampi has the same

While it is still not complete 100%, it is at 94% done. I am moving on to other tasks. I will come back after I acquire the skills to finish the knobs on the guitar...
I have used the new features in Illustrator CS3. For simplicity sake, I start with the outline, (and it can be kind of messy/unfinished), duplicate the paths, but remove the pen strokes under the Outline. Then add the color details (this is where the knob's details will be controlled, and be done later, after research of guitar). After the color regions are satisfactory, I clean up the lines. This is effectively selecting a line and telling Illustrator to make the line transparent at specific parts. This specific feature was missing in the original inception of Live Paint. I then drew the Guitar strings. This is about a week or so of my free time spent working on this.
Please do not bother me about the non-existent background. My focus is on actual foreground objects.
If you want to use this image for a wallpaper, please go to My "In Progress" page This should show what else I'm doing.

Good pick on the colours, I like that. Though I wish you use fill path for the outlines.. Anyway, great work!
Oooh, not bad at all, but I see that the lines are slightly jagged... Hmm... so far the colors are really stunning.
Wow...this is really nice
I like it a lot especially the colours
Looks nice but kind of look weird at the hand part
