Wow, I must be inactive for months! Fret not, I toiled away making this very
wallpaper.
To fans of Shakugan no Shana, this is my way to
celebrate SHANA-chan making it to a brand new season!
Although it isn't really Shana there on the swing, its still an artwork of the
respected Noiji Itoh. And all things Shana is all things Noiji Itoh.
First off, I want to thank Photoshop
Creative Magazine for their many inspiring tutorials. Also, I made this for
someone 
Okay, about this wallpaper i got to say the easiest part was cleaning the scan
whereas the hardest part was the bloody background. I think I spent hours to mix
it right. Then again, cleaning the edges of the scan was time consuming but it
was fun. 
About the scan, I applied a filter to darken most of it. I then experimented creating shadows in the process of using some textures. By using a hard brush eraser, I erased part of the texture to create a shadow on her arms and shirt. This was needed as the filter I applied made the shirt completely white. It has no shadows at all! But recreating the shadow was easy.
Then, I cleaned her hair up and cloned some petals away. Her eyes are actually of a brighter purple colour. The skirt also used to be blue.
Duplicated the background and gaussian blurred it set at Overlay and placed on
top of the background.
For the orange lighting, I picked an orange colour from the swing to create an
orange-to-transparent gradient set at Multiply on a new layer. Dragged it from
bottom-left to top-right.
At first I wanted to name this Sunset by the Swing but my brother said it sounded a bit serious and that she was smiling so it should sound more fun.
Also notice that I spared this wallpaper of Huge text being placed on it. I didnt like the idea of ruining this wallpaper by placing titles or catchy phrases around. This is still considered a textless version (except for the text at the bottom) and I'll keep it that way. I feel more people should do that as text are distracting.

love the background, and it's a lovely wallpaper for the Fall 
Although there are little flaws. The extraction could be better; most noticeable would be the left swing-handle-thing (I have no idea what they're called; I suddenly feel very uneducated
). And
I don't know about the tips of her hair; near the dark/shadowed area. I'm not
sure if it's the lighting, or the extraction.
Overall, it looks great ^_^ Keep it up!

Yeah, I know she isnt Shana. This wallpaper is still to show that someone actually bothered to celebrate the 2nd season of Sakugan no SHANA.

hmm... i personally think that the scan is not very clean.. maybe u can try to blur some area to make the scans look cleaner?
i think that bg behind sure blends well with the dark scan..
