My fourth submission here and probably one of the most important for me.
I do believe that many of you have heard in the news about the fires set in
Greece by arsonists, within the last weeks. More than 70 people died in these
fires and even more than 3000 animals were trapped and burned in the farms. It
is a great loss for our country and surely an event that will never be
forgotten.
Considering this fact the university i am studying at the moment has taken some
kind of action towards this. All of us had to talk about the occasion at the
schools we are teaching for our practice and involve the kids into certain
activities. Since it was summer and the schools were closed we decided to do
this in a centre were every child would voluntarily take part in this event. We
sent notes to every child that was at the schools we taught and more than 500
kids responded. Each day, 10 of us had to create a project based on the fires in
separated classrooms. My kids decided to make a poster that would be published
in a magazine. The message of the poster was Stop killing Earth, our mother.
Plus, the kids decided to make groups and every day they would take care of the
small gardens we created in our schools and neighborhoods. Last but not least
the university created a certain software for kids with lots of interactive
activities that would allow them to know about fires. Believe me, you would like
to participate in it as well. These incidents bring people together and most
important it makes us wake up from the lethargy we are all in.
About the wallpaper. I had been working on it last month. Surely it was not
meant to have a hidden meaning this time. I just started it for my practicing in
using highlights and shadows. When this event was taking place though, I knew
that this wallpaper was meant to be completed. It is dedicated to Mother Nature
and it symbolizes the birth of life in nature (the little girl born from the
flower)
----
Time: More than a month
Layers: About 60
Help with the lights: Adoc from Deviantart (he helped me so much with his
advice/ http://adoc.deviantart.com/
)
Flower: A 3d object modified with gradient mesh in illustrator and then applied
a texture on it / Stock: http://shd-stock.deviantart.com/
(Granted permission to use it in any way and I thank her for allowing me to use
this amazing 3d object)
Textures: My stock (if you want them, just send me a note)
Extra help: I want to thank Kalico (from Animepaper) for always being here for
me and my best friend anolibb (which by the way is kicking my butt these days
for saying stupid things
)
Ps. This scan is overused and most people here have made amazing walls with it. This is my version and has nothing to do with the scan being so pretty and popular, I just found it and thought it would best fit my idea. Thank you for your comments in advance.
