Very neat concept! The waviness of the edges is distracting, but the idea is awesome.
Artist Comment
This is simply the result of playing around with photoshop.
First was a gradient map in an elliptically shaped selection. Then I threw in some grass for fun and decided to put in a character. One thing led to another and this is the result after 30 odd blending mode changes, lens flares, burning, dodging and what not.
