I don't think he was a bad character in the same way... I don't know, Odette might have been. More like how Wagner was. You fight him, but his role isn't really as an 'enemy'. Like Countess-D said, he just sucks at being a parent. :)
Now the Odin in Valkyrie Profile 2. He was bad. But somehow far less intimidating. (Must be the fact you come up higher than knee-level.)
