Because bright colors burn my eyes, including bright red from the original scan.
Because I like textures.
Cause I think this is a nice wall, regardless of how it looks like the original.
No other versions cause it is done just for widescreens, plus the 1600 version I made before sucker as too much of the pic is cropped off.

I agree about the scan with a lil bit too red. At the same time how you cropped it and plus the textures are nice. Including the fact it's all focused in one colour. =D
Though it seems quite simple and the texture may feel quite heavy at some parts.
