What better way to celebrate DA! Desktop Anime's 7th birthday than with a wallpaper from my favorite series?
I got this image from a member of Kino LJ community many months ago. It was the cover of Dengeki Maoh and was about the then-new second Kino no Tabi PS2 game. I liked the pose of Kino and the more pop-art American comicbook styling of the image, and started to trace it, but never got very far with it. Recently I decided to finish it once and for all. It took a while to figure out what to do, but I settled on having Kino being shot out of a gun. The cloud explosions in the background were traced off another Kino scan, the black-and-white artwork to one of the novel chapters that featured an exploding volcano.
I wanted to do something different with the styling than my usual type of scenic Kino wall so I went for a pop-art feel with halftones and bright, saturated colors. Orange fit the explosion theme best.
Extremely big resolution! And extremely widescreen yes! For those less extreme, more resolutions are always here.

^^ you posted it 2hours ago and it hasn't been yet put in the elite gallery nor in the highlighted gallery ... it's a shame =p what are doing the mods =p ?
Anyways i really like the motion in the wall, the pose of the character and the "cartoon-ness" overall aspect of your wall. Great job as always ^_^"

Very neat! The colors are fantastic and the vectoring is great! The explosion of colors make it look like the wall is moving. Very nicely done =)

And yay for a new DA layout!

Wow! I simply loved the colours and textures! it's indeed awesome to roll my eyes by all this warm layers! The effect of highlighting you created by the alternation of colours is so inventive! Congrats!
I really really loved those colours! *_* Keep it up!

Amazing! I'm really impressed. The vectoring is perfect. And also the colours are excellently tempered. It's very hard to make a wall with such set of colours and remember that a wallpaper is the background, not the foreground.

I also think this unusual style fits the unusual series ;)
