I've always wanted to do a mystical/ fantasy type of wallpaper. This one turned out alright if I do say so myself :)
I like the castle and the sparkly/cloudy stuff. I've always wanted to do that, too :D
I know the extraction is kind of bad. Sorry about that, I tried to make it better. I really did. At first, when I finished extracting the image, it was pretty bad. I thought it was my fault, but when I started over and extracted it a second time (with 1600% zoom) it turned out ALMOST the same. X-O It came a little better, but that was the best I could do. So that's that OX

It's a relly nice wall, buut I think you still neeed work with the foreground. But don't wory. I'm shure you'll master photoshop in no time :) But the background and atmosfere (+the charecter) totaly rock. The foreground is the only thing that doesn't rely match.
Mind if I give you some advice? Try making some more mist and add less sparcles. Just a sgestion, but it's yoour wall and I am in no position to tel you what to do. -

This looks very good
But as kykyopj said, the sparcles don't really go along with the theme
And maybe try to blend the scan with the bg more because the bg color is a bit weak but the scan's color is quite bold -

The extraction is not too bad, you may be too hard on yourself. One has to really search for them. If you didn't mention it, I wouldn't have noticed.
I thought the castle is a bit odd though. It's faded on the left side, but behind the character, it's solid. Also, why is her hair partly transparent? Are you trying to achieve the see through effect you see with hair? If so, you need some more work. Uniform transparency like this doesn't really convey the see through effect.
Overall, it's still nice.
BTW, I don't suppose you know who this is? or is she some random character you picked up because she fits into the theme?

I love it. Although i saw after a great deal of time.
It's really well done and surely it gives away a sense of fantasy, like you passed a door to another wall especially with the dust on the lower part.
