To each their own, I guess. :) I like the simple white background since the colors for the character are so strong. The only thing I have to say is that the wall seems a little out of balance, it's too heavy on the left side because of the extended/fading text and the character which has more mass to contribute to the piece. So when you look at it, the right side isn't as weighted down and it's visually a little uneven. I think an easy fix would be to bring the faded text out from under the character and fade it out on the right side instead, or not let it hang out so far out from the rest of the image if you want to keep it where it is. *Phew* That was long winded, sorry 'bout that. ^_^'
I still like very much what you've done here though. Really clean image, and I love all the orange and red variations. The simplicity works for me and I like the blotches and faded text. Nice work! :pacman: -

THe design in the middle is so pretty and I like the subtle text you put there and this actually reminds me of some other wallpaper with the same style and this and that reallly worked out. :) So, awesome wallpaper! -

Simple = very good. If done correctly, it can look absolutely outstanding. This wall is one of those cases. Just something done so very well and with a perfect touch of colors, it's beauty shimmers. The only complaint I have is with the text in left hand bottom of the image. I dunno..it just doesn't fit well with the bg. As for the text on the bottom right of the wall. I'd recommend spreading that across the bottom, so that your friend, as well as others, can use the wall on their desktops without having that text there.
Of course, all of this is just a personal opinion. Either or, this wall is absolutely gorgeous.
