Wallpaper made from my Chinese watercolour painting: [clicky]

I love tigers, and this is my most proud painting which took about 8 hours to complete. The original painting was 18" x 24", Chinese ink and watercolour on rice paper. This painting is also used in the layout for my personal website (sorry, no anime-related stuff).

Edited and filtered the painting a bit, changed the colour/saturation, and added some textures. Textures came from PSP8 defaults, as well as Desktop Anime. I started the editing a long long time ago, and kinda forgotten about it...

I thought about adding in some Chinese words, but alas my writing sucks and I can't decide on what to put on there anyway....the signature stamp is mine, it has my name on it ^__^

This is truly a lovely painting by MapleRose, with just the right amount of textures so that it looks antique. The tiger and mountains are painted well, and the thick border looks great. Overall, it is a beautiful piece!

Whoa, right before I saw this I had just finished watching a show about tigers on the Discovery channel and was thinking "I wonder if MT has any tiger wallpapers." Quite a coincidence! This is magnificent. I love the painting style, it really does have a Chinese feel to it. Tigers are probably my favorite of the big cats, so this will definitely be on my desktop. *goes to look through your DevArt gallery*

loved it. THNX

awesome. I luv tigers, i think they're magestic animals and the way i painted this one is just amazing. it's face is really nice and the entire scene is really good. I'd like to paint like that, i'd be grateful if u tell me where to find some good tutorials ^^.
of course u got a fav from me here. I luv it, it's really a good wallie. U completely deserve the elite gallery ^^

Lions always get the spotlight, so yay for tigers!
Love the colors and the painting is just really well done! Great job ^^

Yes! Bring on the big cats! I really wish I had something like this on my wall. I have one Japanese painting in my room, but I really wish I had a tiger one! Anyway, nice idea using the painting style, great work! :)

Woa, I love the tiger and I love your work. AS stated previously it does have a Chinese feel to it. Fantastic work. I envy your talent. (oh and thanks for the widescreen version :) My desktop needed a new decoration)

FANTASTIC! XD I love chinese paintings! The tiger's fur texture is simply REAL! :D Hmm...maybe I can help you in its Chinese calligraphy? Oh, not; lest I'll spoil your masterpiece status. ^_^' Not to forget, misty mountains calms my heart upon viewing ^^ Thanks for sharing with us, MapleRose! :)

Amazing picture! It looks so much like an old Japanese stamp of sorts [~ or maybe that's just me, I have an obsession with Japanese stuff at the moment =3].

+Favorites ;)

Edit: *headdesk* I just processed your comment... it's supposed to be Chinese-style. Gomennasai ^_^'

wow, this looks soo nice :D i love the tiger and the mountain as well :) i love how you painted it and this looks really wonderful :D a tiger prowling on a mountain top XD i love the idea and really lovely wall~^^+fav

Excellent work Rose!
The painting looks amazing and it's easy to see that you worked hard
I love it
Keep it up

This is very artistic! I can't believe you did this with watercolour? :o The textures in here makes it like one of those old chinese painting. The Chinese stamp is good so that you know it's yours like those old chinese artist do. :) I really like the details from the watercolour. Lovely concept and for sure deserves to be highlighted. :)

This is so beautiful! I love the art! Thank you so much for making this into a wall! :)

Very nice. the painting suits the rice paper.

Ohh... That gives me an asian feeling... you know :D Those that you often see in those paintings made in those rolling scrolls... Am I making any sense at all?
That's beautiful anyways :D

I never would have thought this was from nowhere, the similarity to an original tiger is huge, and the details on his skin/hair? are remarkable, kind of love the mountains far in the mist it gives an excellent feeling to a enormous, high, stunning landscape.

a traditional Chinese style,an excellent work

nice that looks awsome
go chinese style art lmao

i am quite shocked to see a chinese painting here...unbelievable. tats a nice perspective and you form the space veli well!
oh by the way..caligraphy... it usually gives me big headache as i always messed up the writing with my hand...everytime my hands will mess up with the ink! (i am a left-handed person).....

nice job with the texturing and cleaning up.
