Wallpaper made from my Chinese watercolour painting: [clicky]

I love tigers, and this is my most proud painting which took about 8 hours to complete. The original painting was 18" x 24", Chinese ink and watercolour on rice paper. This painting is also used in the layout for my personal website (sorry, no anime-related stuff).

Edited and filtered the painting a bit, changed the colour/saturation, and added some textures. Textures came from PSP8 defaults, as well as Desktop Anime. I started the editing a long long time ago, and kinda forgotten about it...

I thought about adding in some Chinese words, but alas my writing sucks and I can't decide on what to put on there anyway....the signature stamp is mine, it has my name on it ^__^

This is truly a lovely painting by MapleRose, with just the right amount of textures so that it looks antique. The tiger and mountains are painted well, and the thick border looks great. Overall, it is a beautiful piece!

Whoa, right before I saw this I had just finished watching a show about tigers on the Discovery channel and was thinking "I wonder if MT has any tiger wallpapers." Quite a coincidence! This is magnificent. I love the painting style, it really does have a Chinese feel to it. Tigers are probably my favorite of the big cats, so this will definitely be on my desktop. *goes to look through your DevArt gallery*

Yes! Bring on the big cats! I really wish I had something like this on my wall. I have one Japanese painting in my room, but I really wish I had a tiger one! Anyway, nice idea using the painting style, great work! :)

This is very artistic! I can't believe you did this with watercolour? :o The textures in here makes it like one of those old chinese painting. The Chinese stamp is good so that you know it's yours like those old chinese artist do. :) I really like the details from the watercolour. Lovely concept and for sure deserves to be highlighted. :)

  19. EldaLacus92 Jan 29, 2007

Ohh... That gives me an asian feeling... you know :D Those that you often see in those paintings made in those rolling scrolls... Am I making any sense at all?
    That's beautiful anyways :D

  20. alterlier Jan 29, 2007

I never would have thought this was from nowhere, the similarity to an original tiger is huge, and the details on his skin/hair? are remarkable, kind of love the mountains far in the mist it gives an excellent feeling to a enormous, high, stunning landscape.
