Umm .. I don't remember how I ended up with this piece for the Minitokyo's Mascot contest thing..
I started with a grand idea of having a fantasy land type of background scenery with tall white castle and all the weird
creatures in it - but yeah, couldn't work it out and I got mushrooms instead - LOL! XD
Fully vectored in Illustrator, this was definitely another successful learning milestone for me.
First of all, girly walls are really not my thing, so I really had to push myself to limits to come up with the
background concept that suits such a girly mascot. Really.
Learnt heaps about working with vector gradients with g-mesh which I can't quite decide if I love or hate, though I'm very pleased with the way the mushrooms turned out :)
This was also the first time I sorta worked with a specific requirements following the swag printing guidelines through CafePress - which I thought what the contest was about, moreso than actually designing a 'logo' per se. Anyways that was fun to do and good pickups reading all those cafepress documentation.
Well, I came 5th with 12 votes - thanks guys who voted for me, much much appreciated! :)

PS. FYI, the girl mascot isn't my creation, it was given by MT as the theme of the challenge.

Teehee, very cute supermonchi! It kind of reminds me of the days of the Smurfs with the mushroom houses and all. I really like the lettering that you used though. Definitely my favorite part!

lol, I had a hunch that this entry was yours :) Cute mushrooms and such cheerful and happy vibrant colours, and I love those grasses and flowers towards the front ;) Though I'm not too fond of her shadow, it's too sharp and precise. I think it should be softened/blurred and diffused more, and perhaps a bit faded towards the head. Also, I don't like her placement in the exact middle too much (I tend to like more off-centered focal points, because I find exact center is too boring and stiff ^_^' ), esp since you've got those big letters on the right to balance it out. So I'd say move her to the left slightly (like by half an inch or so)?
btw, I think that logo is pretty neat too (very bright and happy :D). Congrats on 5th place! :)

I love it! One of the better entries in the contest by far. My only complaint is that the rainbow seems kind of weird being soft, compared to everything else having a solid outline. Otherwise, great work!

Definitely my fav entry for the contest, with a lot of 'wth'-ness, and a completely original look on the MT community (the analogy to the Smurfs is good... MT members are Smurfs, then we Sheq would be the old Smurf muahahahah :D)

Love the colors and the fantasy like atmosphere of this wallpaper. The rainbow, the mushrooms...fabulous. cute girl, (wish she was dressed a little more eechi,) but still looks nice the way she is. Great job. Thanks for sharing.
