This scan is from KY's gallery. Search for KY in the members search and you'll probably find this scan. This wall took me about 8 or 9 hours to do. I wasn't exactly keeping time accurately. But, it was somewhere around that. Started around 10:00pm, now it is 6:25 and I just got done with it. I had an artistic urge to create something...so I did. Check it out. EVERYTHING that is not the scan and the picture on the wall is original-created in Photoshop CS2. The wood texture was tough to make. But, I was excited when I finally got it. The rest was simple. It just took forever to figure out. Well, enjoy.

EDIT
I added this description because someone suggested "tips". Heh heh. It's long so beware. :)

I use Photoshop CS2. I don't usually like to use stock photos. I like to create everything myself. It's more gratifying that way and FUN! :). To make the texture I used brushes that I designed myself. It's simple. If you don't know how to I'll tell you, but most likely you already do-- Just paint what you want your brush to look like, or use a picture of some sort, and go to "EDIT>SAVE AS BRUSH" and save it. It's that simple. I used a grunge brush for the texture. With that brush I painted the counter, walls, and cupborads. With the one of the lasso tools I formed the shape of the counter- Front and top. I painted each section individually. First the thickness of the counter,(the front)...then the top section. It helps to click the button that saves the transparency of the layer. Each was painted using the same brush the same size but, different pressure applications. Meaning I applied more paint to the shadowy parts with the brush in 'multiply' mode to make it look lighter and darker in certain areas. I followed that same process with the walls and the cupboards. I then adjusted the hues, the saturations, the lightness and darkness, and the levels of each section untill I liked the theme. I sort of based it off of the interior of the house that someone I used to know lived in.

For the wall's border I got a picture of one of Masamune Shirows words and cut out the design. I pasted it onto the canvas and adjusted the size and distored it to match the direction and angle of the wall. Then I Flipped it horizontally, linked the layers and merged them and flipped it vertically then merged them again untill it made a symetrical design. After copying and pasting it untill there were many of them I merged all of them together in line horizontally. Then to make them seem as though they follow the wall I adjusted the angle and distorted them. I panted the border outlined with the lasso tool and gave it a white stroke. The doors were copied from the cupboard walls and pasted. I added a design using the rectangle tool and painted it black. I then cut out a smaller rectangle leaving it thin. I used the circle selection tool and a clear brush to make the curves in the corners of the design on the doors. I copied and pasted certain parts on different layers to remake the doors and hinges. Each door was done seperately with it's own set of hinges at different angles.

Now for the shadows. I used the lasso tool and just added a gradient fill with a black to transparent color. Oh yeah. I used a low low opacity pattern fill for the floor and the cupboards to give them a more realistic feel. I paid attention to the perspective and distortion of the floor to make it seem as though it was fading into the distance, but not too much.

That's about it. The details are all pretty much concepts that I took from actual houses.--like the trimming and the inside of the cabnet doors.

Ah, That girl is Hisui from Lunar Legend Tsukihime. She is the older twin to Kohaku. Kohaku means amber, which is the color of her eyes. Hisui has blue eyes.

Your background is amazingly detailed. I honestly cannot fathom the mount of effort it took! Keep it up!
