Heya! :)

Full view please!

Believe it or not, but I actually started this wallpaper...in october o.O How about the reasons of this large gap of time between the beginning and my posting...?
Well, before explaining; first : I made this wall starting from the splash page of chapter 132 of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, that you can see here : raw scan of the splash page of chapter 132

I vectored this B&W scan and, like always, making the black outlines was tiring but...it was nothing compared to what came afterward : the thing is, my first idea was to make a gray-scaled wall with only the blue eye colored...and I did it : but I didn't like the result...So I was back to the beginning and *obviously* decided to make a full colored version; and one BIG problem raised : the glass... How was I supposed to make a glass effect that would not look too bad, seeing how more then half of the wall is covered by broken pieces...? I figured it out, and that's when I felt very discouraged and ended up taking a 3 weeks break, since the 'solution' I found to make this glass effect was to actually use 5 layers for EACH piece of glass, and then start with playing with gradients, colors, fill, opacity, layers orders, filters, masks...etc...So the first thought that eventually came to my mind was "no way in hell I'm ever doing that!"...Well...I ended up doing, it, SLOWLY, at my own pace, and ended up with a wall with few hundreds of layers ^^;;

Aaanndd...well, few others stuffs :
1-I love his blue eye :) ;
2-since the shards were superposed ones over others, I started erasing the black outlines of the ones situated the most bellow variating the opacity of the eraser tool, though I don't know if you can see it really clearly;
3-for the ones who already saw others colored walls of mine, you must be surprised by Syaoran ghostly looks : I purposely gave him very fair skin and accentuated it even more with darkest hair color then usual, because with the usual colors...well...he looked FAR too healthy at my taste ^^;; ;
4-i used the burn tool to give him painful looking scars on his skin (face, hand, neck) to show clearly he was hurt badly, and also added a cross shaped scar in his hand (Kamui *wink*); Its kinda sad all those details can't be seen as well now that I resized it in a tiny version (well, I don't know if we can call 1280*1024 'tiny, but compared to the original size, it is ^^;;). Actually, I'm starting to seriously think about posting the bigger version...well...it's 1am here and I'm damn tired, I will think about it again tomorrow or something :P;
5-patterns were used for his hair and clothes;
6-i wanted to add highlights to the shards but it looked like weird white spots, so I gave up on the idea ^^;; ;
7-it might not be too clear, but it's darker in the bottom left and getting lighter and lighter when getting to the top right corner of the wall;
8-the perspective of the wall it's not like the scan : Syaoran was like 'perpendicular', perfectly horizontal right? to put it simply, I encountered a dimensions problem : when it was just like the scan, 50% of the wall was Syaoran at the left, and 50% was the glass shards at the right ---> he didn't took as much space as I wanted him to on the wall, so I changed the perspective to null this 50/50 view that was totally ugly... ;
9-His facial expression : I said before that I gave him painful looking scars, so why does he looks so peaceful, comfortably laying on the glass? [spoiler] He is a clone, a created 'thing' by a psycho wizard with no heart and no feeling, it also showed clearly in the manga that he do not feel pain no matter who much he is hit or hurt, he's got absolutely no emotion nor feelings and only obey the orders of his creator and murder with no remorse and nor showing emotion, so the fact he's got this expression-less face is 100% normal :)
That's it!
I hope you'll like it and review +fav ^__^

    Wow...Excellent vector!
    I love the blood scattered everywhere on the wallpaper, it looks really cool, at first i thought it was a kamui wallpaper...but, nop, it was a syaoran wallpaper...
    Yep, the concept is really cool and i looks awesome, but i would add some highlights on his hair, it looks too plain for me...

    I'm not the kind who usually read a whole detail description nor actually download walls cause of this sucks 5 limit downloading thing. But I did it now, and here is 2 in the morning, so: I'VE GOT SOMETHING TO SAY!

    *annoing!*

    There's two things here that disturb me a little:
    - First, I don't know if it was your intention, but the perspective of the wall it's not like the scan...cause Syoran dos not seem to be laying on the floor at a first sight, do you know what I meen? I think it don't suit with the pain here's supose too pass hurt like this (and it's the magic of the scan: his expression! he's suposed to bee in pain, but he is just staring us with this fucking beautiful eye), so in here he seems just to be resting .
    - You colored the floor so darkly that it distort some of the hard work you'd done with the glass efect ( i almost cried reading the creation process).

    But you really did a great wall, I can say it's your best and mature job so far! The blood seems real and the composition is a really great. I want to learn how to vectoring, but I don't know nothing about it, despite what I can know, it's a wonderfull job as well.(Could you teach me in, hehe ^_^' ?)

    Well, i think it was my looongest review of all, but anyway, for a wall like this...worth it is!

    Wow.
    That's amazing, truly perfect vectoring. My favorite part however is the wood floor, looks just like Sayoran either jumped, or was thrown out of a window.
    Very cool.

  24. Rella Dec 20, 2006

    OMG! This wallpaper is amazing, Sherry! Your hard work was worth it all in the end. The vectoring is amazing and the coloring as well. I love how you made his skin lighter than it's supposed to be, good job. The glass looks really neat too, I can understand why it took you so long to know what to do with them. Excellent work! I'm so glad this is on elite gallery because it deserves to be there. Definitely a favorite from me. ^^
