Please full view! EVERYTHING in the BG is made by me!
This is Rydia of the Mist from Final Fantasy IV. She is the Summoner. I love the Summoner job (check out the number of Yuna wallpapers I've made...). I am a huge FF fan and I've researched all of the old games. My fondest wish is to get a GameBoy Advance, and Nintendo DS, and all the games (I have a PS 2 for games 7 through 9), and to play 11 online. I own 10, 10-2 and 12...someday maybe. :nerd: I am an obsessive dork.
Anyway, this bg is 100% made by me. The rocks, waterfall, glowing thing, and mist I made by hand. The rocks and water are painted. The glowing thing is a take on the wings tutorial at Ianimetions and the mist is painted and smudged. The stars are brushes.
Originally there is only 1 bird in the pick but I made Franken-birds from it to have the other two. The bird infront of Rydia is glowing in the scan so I made all of them glow the same bright yellow.
Can I mention again the enormous effort that waterfall was?

UPDATE Naomi and Starr suggested that I blend her edges a bit more so that she isn't on top of the background, she's part of it. Voila!
Another update: This wall is Illuminated at Celestial Luminesse! I can't tell you just how tickled I am!

ohmygodohmygod! I love Rydia! (hence my username!) I saw this on the recently submitted artwork thing on Minitokyo's main page and thought... "no.. it couldn't be" BUT IT IS! This is beautiful. Rydia looks whimsical and beautiful at the same time. It is perfect. And my first fav!

Wow, the background is impresive! it really caught my eye :)
but! I can't help but to point out that the extraction was not very good....her hair looks too sharp, birds doesn't look very blended...maybe a little blur over the wings
But, overall it's an amazing wallpaper!

I think this is gorgeous! I love the scan, and that waterfall looks awesome. I can definitely see the amount of work you put into it. I agree with Naomi about the extraction. I would go once around the girl and the birds with the blur tool set on a lower strength. If the girl and birds fit a little better, maybe a feature? hehe. I really love the wall, but good extraction is one of the requirements to get an illumination. (your extraction is good, but the extracted area and the bg just need to be blended together more)

This is one of the beautiful thing I never seen. Such a talent you must been blessed, Rydia she was powerful for sure when she grown up^^ Wow do you draw Rose as well? lol Really I'm impressed I'll look forward for your next chefs-d'oeuvre!

Beautiful wallpaper! The image of Rydia is wonderful. The waterfull is excellent...amazing work doing that. I also like the birds, they fill in the other side of the wallpaper, without taking away from Rydia. Nice work on everything.

Awsome I wanted to do some Final Fantasy V artwork awhile back, but I've been busy. This is incredible. I love the star the brushes, and the birds are really nice touch. They remind me of her hair exellent!

Wowza! If it wasn't for the fact that you told us that you did everything by hand...wow...I SO would not have believed it. The wallie is simply amazing. I luv everything about it. The waterfall...I thought it was a part of the picture. The birds...so cute! XD and...the mist? You only painted and then smudged? Wow! I thought it looked more complicated than that. Wow...you're good~

Hey, your love of Final Fantasy really comes through in this wall! It looks like you've spent a lot of time...especially that's all done by hand? Sugoiii ^_^ That takes incredible skill right there! Just looking at it makes me want to check out the Final Fantasy games (I've never tried one before, but I hear they're good!).
What I like best here are those stars and lights...it makes it look so lovely!
