Hmmm, full view does this much more justice than the thumb does :P
I really do like the eyes in this. They give the essence to the whole piece. I guess eyes communicate the strongest in
general and perhaps that's why anime eyes seem to stand out so much :P

Acrylic on canvas. 16 in. x 20 in. 2006.
This particular painting didn't exactly come from any particular source other than my sketchbook. It was a character portrait I drew and liked it enough to do a painted version.
Although the eyes are particularly striking in this piece. I did try to make them more expressive, and I think I may have been successful. More and more I am focused on the eyes in anime. I think that anime art is so powerful largely because of the eyes. I just don't know exactly why yet :P.
