The main idea was to extend the scan. However, it turned out to be more difficult than I thought... =( For the floor I used a gradient pattern as a base, many many variations of the grainy texture, other layers of different colors with different blending options to help everything blend nicely with the floor on the scan, and lastly I used the clone stamp to give it the little dots and stuff.

Soft and superb texture! Though I must say; the shadow of the tree is definintely at the wrong place.
Wow, its been awhile since I've seen Rumiko Takahashi's works; Ranma, in my opinion, is still her best comedy. -

i would think it to be very difficult to make the scan of akane match the background or even come up to par with the more recent, cleaner anime characters. however, she came out very nicely. =) yaaay.
