Been a long time... as usual ^_^'

One of my MT friend was saying that I always do sad walls, so I said to myself that I had to try one of those happy walls. So L3g I hope this one is happy enough for you ;)

Bokura ga Ita is a new series currently running in Japan. It made me think of Kare Kano. It's really lovely.
I found this scan thanks to bouinbouin.
I kept the background cause I liked it, and thought of a concept with a window.

I drew the window, the chime and the little trees in Illustrator. Than in Photoshop, I textured the window by adding wood textures from photos I took. I tried to copy/paste as less as possible to make it more realistic. The birds pattern on the wall come from this site.
The birds in the sky are from a stock photo...
And finally I painted the scan to extended it and remove the grainess.

Hope you'll like it and run watch Bokura ga ita :D (or read the manga).

I know you said that you wanted to make a 'happy' wallpaper but the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this picture (and prior to reading your comments) is there is something sad in its message. It's like the two people are leaving this house for a far-away journey and it is heart-wrenching (for them) to let it go. They are savouring every moment they can in the memories of the house before turning their back.

    Good work nonetheless.

good job! if you vectored the wood and other stuff it really is amazing. ^^ good job and i hope you continue to make walls like this!

    wouhaaaa....
Great wall ! I love the colors you used, I could feel something really "zen" ^^
super la class ! le seul truc qui me chiffone, c'est que la fenetre doit etre hyper basse, pour que l'on arrive a voir les jenoux des persos... sinon, la class a dallas... comme d'habitude...
    Ma reine...

The scan looks great, but the window seems a bit too... clean, if you know what I mean. But I still like the idea, keep up the awesome work!

OHHHH Yano and Nana from Bokura ga Ita T^T I looooove this manga (one of the few I own) and the meaning of the tittle it's so bittersweet (like the end of Honey & Clover lol both are quite nostalgic and my favorite animes). I love what you did in this wall, in faq I was expecting a Bokura ga Ita wallpaper because the covers of the manga volumes are great (I like the ones from volume 1, 2, 4, 5, 8 and 9), I like what you did with the window and your perception of the story, I perceive and feel this manga like the Barbra Streisand's old song "The way we were"...

    Memories
Light the corners of my mind
    Misty watercolor memories
    Of the way we were
    Scattered pictures
Of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another
    For the way we were

Can it be that it was all so simple then
Or has time rewritten every line
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me - Would we? Could we?

    Memories
    May be beautiful and yet
    What's too painful to remember
We simply to choose to forget

    So it is the laughter
    We will remember
    Whenever we remember
    The way we were

    So it is the laughter
    We will remember
    Whenever we remember
    The way we were

*Sob sob* Bokura ga Ita it's turning to be quite a bittersweet story about the past and the decisions we made.

Thanks for creating this wall (as you can see I love this story), it's one of my fav now ^_^.

Love the brown-gold tones and how you used the pattern... And that has got to be one of the nicest drawn windows I've seen x) Great work with those wood textures! It's a lovely transition-into-autumn wall :D

Out of curiosity... how did you do the Japanese text? :D I think I recall seeing it on another wall recently and... it looks awesome >_<

Gorgeous colors...I am getting a relaxing feeling from the wall.
The window is kinda too clean compared to the scan but somehow I have a feeling that is giving those characters a blurry feeling; as if they are standing in front of the sun. Very hard to give that kinda feeling in an open wall like this so props for that. Also I am pretty sure you can do much better with the title placement and font(it's kinda floating) but you are getting a fav from me because of the composition and the effort. Very nice work anji :)

really nice work. i like the calmed scene and the way that you make the atmosphere.
by the way, Yuki Obata (the mangaka of Bokura ga Ita is Really a beauty ^^ )

  12. audeaya Oct 03, 2006

    you're the best ;)
    .:aude:.

Comme je suis sur MT autant en profiter :)
I don't really know alot about this serie, I try not too buy many manga these days =____=
But the wallpaper is soothing and sweet :) Not a happy-happy-joy-joy wallie but you made more depressing lol
I love how you did the windows and the textures used :)
    + fav' Miss ;p

I love the background. It's really beautiful an looks just fabulous.
The patterns match up well too, and I'm also loving the color scheme.
The chara look so cute too, and they look as if they were painted. :)
    Such a gorgeous wallpaper. :D

    Hop, entrainement a l'anglais!

    Nice work!
Especialy on the wood texture (must be very hard to make it), even if we can see a little something a bit strange :-/ (Just like Cloe-chan said? Too clean?).
The only thing than make me feel uncomfortable is the beam (fr -> poutre). Why only one for the window?

  17. MyrrhLynn Oct 18, 2006

Whew! Yes it has been awhile since you submitted a wall, but this one is definately worth the wait! I love the textures of the windows and the walls. It looks realistic, yet not out of place with the painted looking background. Excellent job extending the scan and adding in all those details (tree, wind chime, birds). I love this one, and actually I think I am going to go check out the series now. ;D

Really this it is a beautiful work! For only days back I have been reading the volume number one of this manga! He is really pretty! I think that it can be looked a little like KareKano, but it has something special and it is well different. The image that you used is the cover of comic number one. I liked much the details that you gave window, and the color this precious one! You really do obtained a beautiful scene! One goes away direct to my favorites! Many Greetings Anji-chan! :D

i love the way you use textures. <3 the textures.
but the window is too... sharp compared to the scan.
