Bloody hell. it's finished. at last. this wall may be the most harrassing one i ever made. i'm honestly happy and relieved this trip in hell ended.

so, the usual lil story behind my wall. I was browsing Atherality gallery when i tumbled on this scan of Maria Tachibana from Sakura Taisen. i fell in love and decided to wall it. how common as a story huh?

Now, the hard part. In fact this wall was like a challenge i put to myself: i wanted to do everything i never really worked on in it. Namely, photo manip, painting, and light effects. i let you judge how it turned out ;)

So, everything is stock photo in here, that i either painted over or textured, except for the posters and the stencils that i created myself. I won't explain you everything i did to arrive to this, but well, just know it was a real pain in the a**.

I have to thanks all the people at Pointless Vandalism for the great feedback they give me all along this wall (edited maybe 8 times)

Ok, enough talk, now you can cast stones at this crappy wall :p
For Mother Russia nostalgics, and people who like to call their friends "comrades" :p

This is what you call good use of stock photos. Very well manipulated and excellent lightning. the mood is effective and the USSR theme is quite original. This is a great wall you shouldn't miss

the footsteps in the snow is the only weakness here.

: wondering if mother russia can spare some vodka- im dead out :

btw- do you happen to have any more conventional sizes of this wall- in say 1600x1200 etc?

Nice! It's usually tricky to blend anime-like scans into stock photographs -- but you did it really well. I guess your 'pain in the a**' really paid off. Love it! :D

The overall image reflects the image of USSR: being low-on-light and grainy, with additional snow. The chara's pose also reminds me of Russian female spies in old movies -- but this may be just me, though.

    Everything works well. Fav+ ;)

You know its good wallpaper ^^ Good blending and stock manipulation... Nah, I commented it on AP and i cant say something more.

    *Pass the vodka comrade*
The lighting effects and manip have been commented on already, but just wanted to say they are awesome. I also like to comment on the colour, it makes the russian feel. I have a soft spot for russia/ukraine due to family, I like what you have created here.
I have looked at your other stuff too, it great, I will be watching this space ;)

The whole atmosphere you create with the background fits very well with the scan.
    Everything blends wonderful together.
I also like the "moment", how the lady spies the person. Good job :)!

oh wow, those stencils are amazing! It must have been so difficult to get the angles and layout right. Great work, especially on the lighting! It creates a great atmosphere. ^_^
