A promotional wallpaper for Simple-ism's Inspiration Project.
What inspires you? When you look at that blank canvas, what gets you started? Is it another wallpaper? Is it a commercial design? Is it another art style? Is it music? Simple-ism's Inspiration Project invites you to examine what inspires you, and to create wallpapers in tribute of them.
I had actually scanned in this image from HachiKuro manga v6 a week or so before I began talking with Flyin' about this project, but it fit so well. (Originally it was going to be a tribute to overcoming artist's block.) Hagu staring at a blank canvas - a whole row of oversized canvases. It's intimidating, and yet she manages to find the drive to create beautiful works of art.
I decided to color the outlines a darker shade of the base color instead of a dark near-black shade to keep the image light and maintain the pastel palette. After fiddling with the background arrangement, I decided not to put in all the other items in the room (paint buckets, ceiling lights, cloth-draped tables) to keep the focus on Hagu.

Ah~ Lovely fitting concept. But I would have seen something...bigger with this lol. To me this image would have been a great opportunity to easily slap different "inspirations" on each canvas. Like having an idea growing on every canvas, them all being your sources of inspirations. The other thing is on a technical note~ To me it looks better in thumbnail mode ( haha, not that it's ugly in big mode >_> ) but I feel like the vector could have been thinner, more detailed and with fine lines. And those paint splotches are so somewhat typical o_o; I would have thought Hagu's board- or however you call that thing- more desordonated and full of funky color mixes.
anyways it's a big thumbs up for the idea!

Great wall and concept, Tama-Neko! :)
This is just a fab wall. Everything looks so harmonious together.
The canvas, the chara, the colors, and the great vectoring.

The chara reminds me a lot of Tsubasa in Kare Kano. XD
I can't say anything more about this wall except: beautifully done.

Hagu-chan. :)
Thank you for this wallpaper.

I have blank canvas' like this sometimes... GIVE ME INSPIRATION! This is just totally amazing. I love how theres a ton of canvas' all different sizes..Especially those totally gigantic ones XD Ah! All so awesome, beautiful work!

This really is awesome. I'm loving the idea and the vectoring is great. Love the different sizes of the canvas. I'm adding you to my watchlist, yo.

When I see this...it reminds me of what my tap teacher used to say: "Artis painted on the canvas of blankness". Something like that. I really like that idea and everything looks simple and just really pretty.

Hermoso!
